Learning AIM A - Sources of fundingFunding is when an organisation gets provided money by another organisation or government, for particular purposeGrantsGrants are non-repayable funds given by grant makers which tend to be governments. Examples of this is the National Lottery distributors, charitable trusts and foundations. Grant are useful when starting something new or starting something. Once an organisation receives a grant it’s more likely to receive others. Which is good to build an organisation visibility and credibility. However, getting a grant can be time consuming as it requires research and an agency before writing the grant plus it is also difficult as it is a competition and has a low success rate of achieving a grant. Even though it’s free there are always string and restriction attached to it when receiving the money. For example, if S.O.B production received a grant from an organisation, that organisation might influence S.O.B Production to include something about the organisation in the film to low-key promote them. Another string or restriction would be if S.O.B production gains and a huge amount of profit from the movie, for instance more ?50,000 the organisation will want the money back or a percentage back from the S.O.B production through the terms and condition.Furthermore if, S.O.B production find a way to receive a grant this help them the company dramatically as this will lower production cost and be able to extend their budget which will allow either more props , actors , better quality equipment to make the movie better, leading to an happy audience when they watch their media production.Crowd funding Crowd funding is when large amount of people contribute a relatively small amount such as asking the public for donation or via the internet. Crowd funding comes with many benefits as first it can be used to test the public’s reaction and received feedback also expert guidance and the product and ideas. There are no upfront and can be used to promote the brand. However if the project fails this can become damage the business reputation. Also if the funding target is not reached this can cause investors to receive the pledged finance and leaving the company with nothing and gives too much away too the business competitors. However, depending on the size of S.O.B Production Crow funding can be a great source of funding as the more people S.O.B production have the area in the world/country crowed funding can help in order to raise the money for the film, which will improve the S.O.B Production brand enabling the brand to easily influence the audience to enjoy the film. Resulting in more profit being made when the movie is released. Attracting more investors in the company leading to an increase budget size when making movies and slowly moving away from this type of source of finance which is quiet risky depending if people I willing to give/donate.British Film InstituteBritish Film Institute (BFI) is a film and also a charitable company that promotes filmmaking in the UK. British Film Institute has a locked box which allows film makers in the UK to fund through BFI from their success. A BFL locked box is used to store money coming from production and is put to aside for development or future projects or staff training. This makes sure that the success BFL backed films are invested directly back to the British Film industry. With the British Film Institute being the source of finance for S.O.B production, will allow the company to make connection with people in other film industry to gain ideas which may lead to better film making. Due to the locked box from the British Film Institute, there is always money for companies like S.O.B production to train staff in the future reducing money being wasted on recruiting staff with only a certain skill but have multi skilled staff that can help with the film making increasing budgets for films and more profit. However some of the money has to go back to the BFL locked box for the future training and development. British CouncilBritish Council are an organising that link between UK films and filmmakers and new international audiences. They work worldwide, developing imaginative film projects including curating programmes. The British council tend to distribute lottery funds for film and has other support scheme such as Development funding; Production funding and completion funding along with some other. This source of finance can make S.O.B production increase their budget and have emergency situation sorted if a certain section of production like the development have more money to develop the film more into a better quality standard and easy to produce. Or in the production stage, if an extra funding is needed the council fund it without having a situation to worry, but by having the British council as a source of finance means that they will have a huge influence in the movie for instance certain ideas in the film could be denied by the British council in order to either make the UK more humble seen innocent across the world, as the film is will be promoted across the globe. Which might limit or restricted S.O.B production producing certain films its original audience wants to see, resulting in profit being lost from the film.SubscriptionSubscription is a way of receiving constant something probably money for people that apply or agree to it to use or receive a service or a product. Subscription helps the organisation know the volume and demands of films people want to reduce wastage. Another benefits of funding through subscription is that big film companies, fulfilment is channel as it allows them to communicate offers and cross sell to their audience. With subscription, S.O.B production can always have a steady source of finance coming into S.O.B production and be able to increase the price of subscription for their films if needed to increase their profit which will lead to an increase in future film budget or be able to access powerful, high quality equipment for their film making. However subscription can put off half of its audience if the price increases too much unless there is a good reason explained to the audience and even that can still put them off result in cancellation of subscription. Television AdvertTelevision advertisement is when different TV producers pay an organisation to promote their brands to convey a message or market. Benefits of tv advertisement is that it brings in many revenue for the company advertising it as Television is one of the most popular source of media watched by the population. Also television adverts are quite expensive and due to the price of advertising it on TV the source of income can be quite fin making not a suitable source of funding.Bank LoanA ban loan is when an individual or an organisation borrow either a fixed amount of money from the bank with either a fixed interest or a variable interest, with the money that has to be paid back at regular fixed payments over a period of time. The benefits of a bank Loan are that the money can be access straight away and cheaper compared to other bank finance system such as overdraft and credit situations. However, the disadvantages of bank loans are that the burden of paying back the amount and if the interest is variable there could be sudden ask for the payment amount which can put S.O.B Production is money tight situation. However, with a bank loan, S.O.B production can take any amount of money and access it straight away with no string and restriction apart from paying the money back regular for a certain time period. ................
