Museum Visit Project GuidelinesTask:You will visit a museum listed below and view artifacts from one of the collections that involves a culture or civilization covered in the Global Studies Freshman year course. During your visit, you will take notes on at least 5 artifacts using the Museum Observation Form provided to you. Afterward, you will write a report (2-5 typed pages in length) in which you connect the artifacts you observed to specific political, economic, social, or cultural themes associated with the civilization that produced them.Due date:Wednesday, April 10th, 2013 (this has been revised due to a technical delay)Required materials:A minimum of 5 Museum Observation Forms (one for each artifact observed) filled out by hand (blue or black ink pen).A 2-5 page typed report that addresses the way(s) in which the artifacts observed depict or encapsulate the political, economic, social, or cultural history of the civilization that produced them. Historical context must be provided based on outside research materials. (see below)The format of the report must be in a size 12 Times New Roman font. The lines must be double-spaced, and there should be one inch margins all around.A Works Cited list or Bibliography needs to be printed at the end of the report, detailing the sources of information used to provide historical context for the artifacts observed. You may use either the MLA or APA standard for writing this. (Also, while Wikipedia is a valid resource, make sure it isn’t your only one.)The report must have a cover page (that doesn’t count against the two-page minimum), which should include your name, the title of the project, and a subtitle based on the civilization about which you’ve written the report.Museums (and collections) to visit:(please note: you are only visiting one of these museums, as well as observing and reporting on only one of the collections)Metropolitan Museum of ArtArts of AfricaIslamic ArtEgyptian ArtAncient Near Eastern ArtBrooklyn MuseumArts of Africa (1st floor)Arts of Asia and the Islamic World (2nd floor)Egyptian Art (3rd floor)American Museum of Natural HistoryHuman Origins and Cultural HallsAsian ArtGreek and Roman ArtArms and ArmorMedieval Art ................
