Linda Leblond named Executive

Director of the Business Education

Council

Linda Leblond was officially named Executive Director of Business Education Council at the beginning of January. BEC Board President Jeff Fitch made the official announcement on Monday, January 8, 2007. Linda has served as the BEC's Program Director for the past 6 1/2 years and has replaced the former director who resigned the position last year. Linda stepped in and served as Interim Executive Director until the official appointment was made. Linda truly believes in the mission of the BEC and how important the programs are to the students of Wyoming County. Some of the programs that the BEC offers students are Job Shadowing, Character Education, Business Tours/speakers, Wyoming County Criminal Court Day, Mock Interviews and the Health Fair.

What's New...Newsletter insert opportunities

The BEC is offering its members an opportunity to advertise your business, special events or services. If you are interested in participating, please develop a one page advertisement to be inserted in the summer newsletter (distributed in mid-June). For a nominal fee of $100.00 per business, the BEC will include up to 3 inserts per newsletter. Members will be required to provide 625 copies of the advertisement by June 15th, 2007. The three openings will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. This benefit could save your business the high cost of postage and help you reach a larger group of potential customers. For more details or to reserve your slot, please call Linda or Kelly at the BEC at (585) 237-3010.

Student Solutions 2007

This year, the students solutions program is being changed. In the past, students from the 5 area schools have had to choose from a problem that faced the county. This year, the committee decided to change it and involve our local businesses. The students were asked to choose from a list of problems facing our local businesses. This ranged from employee retention to, how to attract businesses to their towns. The students are working hard at their presentations and will be presenting them on May 10th in front of their school districts, the board of directors for the BEC, their parents and other invited guests.
