THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD…..With all the unrest in our

world, I come upon the story this week from Luke 4.18-19:

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, for he has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives, sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim a year of favor from the Lord."

Suddenly, it becomes clear to me that this message is for ALL WHO LISTEN.

In listening today, each of us, GOD BECOMES PRESENT AND HEALS.

Leinen-Wow! What a beautiful celebration for Alfred Leinen’s life! Thanks to Fr. Dolan for such a kind and thoughtful mass. It was so appreciated to see all the Veteran’s and Knights stand up for what Dad believed. Taps were played beautifully by Ron Heese. Thank you to all who took the time to bring a salad or cake to the luncheon. Wendy and the Altar Society did an awesome job as well! We especially want to thank the staff at UNMC ICU unit and EMT’s for taking such wonderful care of Dad. We would like to express our gratitude for all the love through hugs, food, cards, flowers, memorials, thoughts & prayers! God Bless! The Alfred Leinen Family

TODAY IS RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY, sponsored by

the Bishops’ Committee for Pro-Life Activities. The observance emphasizes concern for all human life, especially that of the unborn, the elderly, persons with disabilities, the terminally ill, and others whose lives are easily threatened. ON RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY, what better words could we hear than Saint Paul’s second reading? “Humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his or her interests, but also for those of others.” Let us pray to our loving God for the wisdom to make these words the hallmark of our lives, respecting all other lives by putting their interests first.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUESTION OF THE WEEK….Do our words indicate our obedience to God? If not our words, do our actions? God desires a full conversion of heart, that our actions (and our words as well) will give evidence of our love for God.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES USA….YOU DID IT FOR ME……Fatuma Ali Sali is a mother of eight who is facing the worst drought in 50 years in Ethiopia. She is one of nearly half a million people participating in a CRS project to help ride out the drought.
