Thank You Notes!Dear Calvary Lutheran Church, Thank you so much for your generous donation of pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The pop tabs help fund rooms for our families and for items for our house to make the RMHC house a home away from home for our guests. Thank you for your kindness and support!Sincerely,RMHA Staff and VolunteersNote: a very large donation of tabs were through the collection efforts of Delores Langseth and her friendsfrom Calumet, MI. Delores and her husband Rev. Robert Langseth are parents of our member Todd Langseth. Remember to save your pull tabs. A collection jar is on the table in the narthex. We have had several members of Calvary that have utilized the Ronald McDonald facility. This is a great way to give to the organization and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families. 171323011430“Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.”~ Kathy CalvinCEO & President of the United Nations Foundation“Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.”~ Kathy CalvinCEO & President of the United Nations FoundationDear Calvary,Thank you so much for your generous donation! She serves as Deacon at St. John’s Lutheran and Arbutus Lutheran and has helped at Calvary over the past few months as a worship leader and confirmation class instructor. We appreciate all she has done for us and hopefully will continue to do. As a small token of our appreciation the Council presented Vicar Pam with a card and Barns and Noble Gift Card. We wish her the very best as she continues to do the Lord’s work. When you see her, please offer your congratulations and thank her for all she does for her churches, the community and for Calvary Lutheran.Mission Quilts, Not Mission Impossible! If your answer to the call for help making mission quilts has been “I can’t sew” let me help you rethink that. After much cajoling by Jean G., I have been helping with mission quilts. I have learned that there is more to the process of making the quilts than sewing:Process and sort donated fabric.Cut 11” squares from the fabric.Arrange the squares in pleasing colors/patterns.Give the squares to someone to sew together into a quilt top.Press/iron the sewn top.Prepare a bottom and filler for the quilt.Pin the three layers together.Sew the layers together.Tie the quilt using yarn to prevent the layers from shifting.Fold and box the quilts for shipment to LWR.When the call comes to help with mission quilts, maybe there is a step or two you can work on. And by the way, my schedule gets in the way of meeting the Quilters at church on Monday mornings, so I sew tops at home and hand them back to the Quilters.Blessings,Robin Gardner, Social Concerns Committee Member4445444500 Ministry Site Profile Team Thank you to all who have signed up to be on our Calvary Lutheran Ministry Site Profile Team. ?If you would still like to be on the team, email Angie at aclose@co.langlade.wi.us or call 715-610-7118.This team will compile the profile, but we need support from all of our members and we will give opportunities to refine the needs and approve at a member meeting in the future.A Profile describes who we are to any prospective ministry candidate; it is not a profile of our ideal minister. It is important that we keep the process focused on “What kind of church are we seeking to be?” and not “What kind of minister are we seeking to find?” - Angie Close Calvary Church CouncilSynod Golf OutingTuesday, August 13, 2019 ~ Glacier Wood Golf Club in IolaShot-gun start @ 8:30 AMREGISTRATION FORMS AVAILABLE IN THE CHURCH OFFICEThis is for All Pastors, Deacons, Church Leaders, Members of the East Central Synod of Wisconsin. You can set-up your own team or create a foursome from Calvary.Create a men’s team Create a women’s teamor Create your own team Cost: $50.00 includes golf, cart, lunch & prizesRegistration Sign up deadline: July 15, 2019 Format: 18-Hole team scrambleTimes: 8:00 a.m. check in; instructions @ 8:15, tee times @ 8:30 (shot-gun)44457937500Music in the Park Pie SaleCalvary will be hosting the Pie Sale for Music in the Park on Monday, July 8th.We will need your help in the booth andproviding your homemade pies and desserts. Glen Gildemeister - May 26, 2019Glen served as our worship leader on Sunday, May 26. He presented us with a very informative and festive service on the history behind some of our very favorite Lutheran Hymns. The church was filled with joy and sound as people joined together to sing praises to the Lord; he also paid homage to those who gave their lives in service to Our Country. It was a beautiful and fitting Service for the Memorial Day Weekend. We thank all of our worship leaders during this time of transition. A special thank you to members: Edd Hill, Dale Waterhouse and Tim Schroeder, M.Div. for stepping in to lead worship. We also thank: Pastor Betty Wyatt, Vicar Pam Wirth, Pastors Bill and Tryphine Schruba, Pastor Nicole Welke, Pastor Robert Langeseth and Pastor Jeff Martinson for sharing their time with Calvary. During the months of July and August Pastor Bruce Beyer from Weston will be leading, not all, but many of our Sunday services and Pastor Betty will continue to lead Thursday Evening Worship. We are grateful to all of you and for all that you do!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~44459525000How Do We "Be Church Together"? ?Imagine the Possibilities Update?Julie K and I are continuing to meet now on a monthly basis with the Synod and the 6 other churches. ?Each meeting we are given homework to do to submit to the Synod. ?We are still in the early stages but it was clear that everyone there is ready to begin on how we "Be Church Together". ?This month our homework is to submit our church core values! ?As we have done this exercise in 2017, we want to make sure that they are still the Core Values?that are keeping our?church?focused on our mission. Our next meeting is June 25th at St. Johns in Birnamwood. ?Julie and I will continue to keep all of you engaged, and please feel free to ask questions at any time.-Angie Close ................
