Hello Donor,

I come here to offer you an opportunity to be ONE IN A HUNDRED; to join with 99 others investing financial resources in Catholic Charities Bloomington in a plan we call A DOLLAR A DAY. Your investment will help people you may never have met but who walk the same streets you do every day and who are reaching out for the helping hand of Catholic Charities Bloomington.

WHAT WILL YOUR "DOLLAR A DAY" INVESTMENT DO?

• It will not make you richer--nor better looking or smarter, BUT:

• It will put to immediate, practical use your compassion and concern for those in harm's way.

• It will supply a solid base of support to a local, vital counseling agency facing a serious budget crisis at the very time when more people are asking for its help.

WHY PUT YOUR "DOLLAR A DAY" IN CATHOLIC CHARITIES BLOOMINGTON?

CCB has a reputation for providing caring and competent counseling. Its workers are professionally prepared and possess demonstrated skills. CCB services are readily available to all, no matter their age, religion, race, or sexual orientation. CCB is dedicated to the concept that everyone, regardless of income, should have access to effective mental health services. The recent closing of another Bloomington agency has left CCB as the only local United Way agency that offers mental health counseling on a sliding fee scale. Support from the Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis and from United Way does not bridge the entire gap between the cost of providing counseling services and the revenue from those services. Agency services give tangible expression to a faith-filled tradition of Catholic social teaching.

WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO "KNOCK ON THE DOOR" OF CCB?

• A 60-year-old man is growing more depressed.  His wife has developed a chronic illness.  Both of them are too young for Medicare coverage.  Their income puts them just over the limit for volunteer medical assistance.  They have filed for bankruptcy.

• A mother seeks counseling for herself and her middle-school-aged daughter who shows strong anxiety after the mother is diagnosed with breast cancer.

• A family with a l6-year-old son is referred by Child Protective Services following a fight between father and son.  The son had previously been caught shoplifting and is on probation.

I hope you agree with me that Catholic Charities Bloomington should stand ready to help people like these.  If so, join with me in the "DOLLAR A DAY" plan to keep it alive, vibrant and productive.
