Without a doubt mental health is an important aspect to our overall health and wellbeing, it affects how we think, feel and act. The barriers to mental healthcare access are significant issues facing many Americans. More than half of adults with mental illness in the U.S. do not receive mental healthcare treatment. That statistic alone is cause for concern. Barriers to mental healthcare access come with a high human cost such as broken families and even death. Stigma has always played a role when it comes on to seeking treatment, as well lack of insurance coverage.
