COLLABORATION LEADS TO ACCOLADES FOR EXCELLENCE

Congratulations to all at HRH who work so hard every day to provide great patient care ? your loyalty to delivering consistent, positive patient experiences is being recognized on a national level!

HRH is one of a select group of hospitals identified nationwide for providing excellent performance in the delivery of a positive experience for patients during their hospital stay. We are also on an elite list that recognizes our efforts to improve the overall health of associates through an innovative wellness strategy.

Most recently, HRH received five-star ratings from Healthgrades? for the quality of its treatment of Stroke and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This is the first five-star rating for our Stroke service line and the second consecutive for our COPD service line. A five-star rating indicates that clinical outcomes at HRH are statistically significantly better than expected when treating stroke and COPD.

Continued Excellence in Treating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

"COPD affects over 24 million people in the United States," says Robert Weaver, BS RRT, Director of Cardiopulmonary at HRH. "Many of these patients have other comorbidities

that make caring for them more difficult. We continually look for new methods or services that we can adopt to improve our care. What truly makes this award possible is the collaboration between our respiratory therapists, nurses and physicians. Without our trust and listening to each other, we could not provide the care our patients have come to expect."

HRH has implemented several gold standard practices to help set the bar in treating COPD, such as launching a daily rounding program so that the entire care team can visit patients together to create better synergy around treatment planning and goals.

Highlighting Award-Winning Experiences

These five-star ratings are our latest accolades from Healthgrades?, the leading online resource helping consumers make informed decisions in order to find the right doctor, the right hospital and the right care. Earlier this year, we received the Healthgrades? 2016 Outstanding Patient Experience AwardTM. This significant achievement ranks HRH in the top five percent in the nation for this award. We are one of only 15 hospitals nationwide recognized in the top 5% in the nation for nine consecutive years.

"HRH associates truly care about our patients and we are committed to providing

them with an exceptional experience," says HRH President & CEO Kevin Speer. "That compassion obviously shines through and is felt by our patients. Our entire management team could not be more proud of the attitude and effort it took to achieve this long-standing recognition."

Innovation in Workplace Wellness

The American Heart Association (AHA) recently recognized HRH as a Community Innovator for our actions to improve the overall health and wellness of our community and associates.

The AHA honored HRH's mission to encourage associates to lead a healthy lifestyle and provide the support to do it. The AHA designates HRH as a Platinum Level Fit-Friendly Worksite, its highest possible distinction. This is HRH's fourth consecutive year on the Fit-Friendly Worksite list; we were a Gold Level honoree the first two years.

All of the health and fitness offerings at HRH combine to make a rich wellness package for HRH associates. If you would like to learn more about how you can improve your health, and get the support you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, contact the HRH Wellness Department at 718-8160.

STROKE PROGRAM EARNS FIRST FIVE-STAR RATING

example, the hospital achieves an average "door-to-needle" time of 55.5 minutes. This measures the time it takes from a patient arriving at the Emergency Department with stroke symptoms to be evaluated and receive critical clot-busting medication. Providing this life-saving drug therapy within one hour of arrival provides patients the best possible prognosis for survival and avoiding longterm damage to their brain.

As stated above, HRH is celebrating our stroke program earning its first five-star rating from Healthgrades?.

"After a stroke occurs, every passing minute can lead to brain loss," said Jo Morton, Director of Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation at HRH. "We constantly assess and evaluate our treatment protocols to see where we can do even better. As a team, we are relentless about getting the best possible outcomes

for our patients. The five-star rating from Healthgrades? in addition to our certification as a Certified Primary Stroke Center is wonderful evidence of these efforts."

As a Certified Primary Stroke Center, HRH provides an experienced team available 24 hours a day to give immediate and critical care to stroke patients. The extensive work and education required for certification has led to outstanding benchmarks. For

HRH has also focused on creating resources for recovery, such as special outpatient stroke clinic and support group. HRH also stays abreast of best practices that can be used to develop new protocols that reduce the risk for future stroke.

"We are so pleased to see our stroke program rating rise to five stars, illustrating the collaboration and patient-centered approach of our entire team," said HRH President & CEO Kevin Speer. "Earning another five-star rating for 2017 is a testament to the safe and exceptional care that patients receive at Hendricks Regional Health."
