Scholarship Guidelines

The purpose of Harold and Mary Perlman Fund is to provide scholarships for College, Junior College or Graduate school students. The scholarships will be disbursed among William Carey College, the University of Southern Mississippi, and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College/Perkinston Campus or any campus of the MS Gulf Coast Community College. Students meeting the criteria will be awarded a scholarship to be used toward the following, in order of priority: tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies.

CRITERIA/GUIDELINES

• Enrolled full time at William Carey College, USM or MGCCC/Perkinston campus

• Financial Needs

• Must be a high school graduate for the current year or community college transfer from Stone, Jackson, Harrison, George, Pearl River or Hancock County

• Good Academic Standing, 2.0 GPA or better

• Provide Official High School or College Transcript

• Provide High School Students A.C.T. and/or S.A.T. Scores

• Provide a letter of recommendations/Character Reference (may be from a community leader, teacher or counselor or church official)

• Volunteer in extracurricular and community activities

• Must be a resident of Stone, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, George or Hancock Counties

This completed application must include the following information:

1) Attach a written letter of recommendation/Character Reference (May be from a community leader, teacher or counselor or church official)

2) One copy of your high school transcript. Must include GPA, ACT score and class ranking. A minimum B or 2.0 grade point average or equivalent is required.

3) Attach a letter explaining why you are continuing your education and how you will use the scholarship. This letter must be limited to two pages, double spaced, and describe your extra curricula, school, or community activities and achievements showing your motivation and initiative such as high school or civic club activities, church, sports, work, family assistance, etc.
