This award is generously sponsored at the state level by the Dairy Farm Families of Wisconsin, The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board.The WAAE Outstanding Young member award was designed as a means of encouraging young teachers to remain in the profession and to encourage and recognize participation in professional activities. WAAE members who have completed at least three but not more than five years of teaching are eligible to apply for this awardAs a lot of people may know, being a new teacher means learning how to balance demands on your time. Time planning instructional strategies; time working with the FFA, meeting people and businesses in the community, as well as becoming involved in not only WAAE, but many other professional development organizations.“You get what you give,” This statement is the education philosophy of this outstanding young member. Jeanna James motivates students by providing a role model and high expectation level for students to see and emulate. This model of high expectations has lead to an increase in classroom enrollment and FFA membership.Some FFA achievements include: 12 state degrees receipts, 3 American degrees receipts, and multiple CDE teams and proficiency awards with high rankings.The thing that sent James apart from her peers is her involvement on the state and national level. She is currently serving on the state WAAE Executive Board and as state committee chairmen. James helped out other educators by being a workshop presenter that the National FFA Convention and at NAAE Conference through the DuPont Ag Ambassador Program.WAAE is the professional association for agricultural educators in Wisconsin. Members include 295 middle school, high school, technical college and university educators.
