CV Success – reviewCV Success was held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Philadelphia. Although it was originally scheduled for the same day as the ADA National Signing Day lunch events at Penn and Temple, the lunch events were postponed due to weather conditions. Dr. Sajid shared attendance statistics with the committee members.LocationTotal Student AttendanceD3 student attendanceD4 student AttendanceOtherStudent No-showHilton Garden Inn Center City, Philadelphia474163 panelists1 speaker2 guests11Dr. Sajid shared that he was pleased with the attendance, especially considering the weather conditions earlier that day. CV Success gave students an opportunity to immediately make improvements on their CVs. Students asked questions during the CV presentation and the New Dentist Panel discussion. Dr. Sarah Khan participated in the New Dentist Panel discussion and agreed that students asked great questions about job interviews, CVs, and applying for residency. Despite encouragement, no students submitted any questions in advance of the event. Dr. Khan suggested that we continue to encourage students to share questions in advance, since this may give the panelists a better idea of specific topics the students wish to discuss. The committee agreed to host CV Success again in Philadelphia in 2019 (03/26NDCDA1). The audience will include D3s, D4s and dental residents. Committee members were reminded that residents had been invited to CV Success, but none had registered. Dr. Sajid and Dr. Marcelino suggested adding a MATCH/PASS component to the program in order to attract more residents. The committee will continue to discuss ideas for improving the program at future meetings.
