Tips for Studying Vocabulary:

NO CRAMMING! Research shows that students who study their vocabulary every night (even for just 10 minutes), rather than just the

night before a quiz or test, are significantly more successful in retaining the knowledge and expanding their language skills.

When studying, don’t just look at the information, do something with it!

Remember that in language classes you're tested on different skills: writing, reading, speaking, listening; so you will need to

practice in a variety of ways.  Some suggestions would include:

Making flashcards.

Writing the words or verb conjugations out (especially if you struggle with spelling).

Using your voice as a study tool and reading your words/homework assignments/verb conjugations out loud.

Learning from your mistakes: looking over corrected work carefully; redoing work for practice.

Having another person quiz you over the meanings AND SPELLING of the vocabulary.

Taking advantage of quiz retakes if/when they are offered. Not only can you improve your grade, this is a valuable opportunity to get

extra practice with the teacher. Weekly verb quizzes are never offered for retake and there is a deadline of 1 week to complete any

retake if or when it is offered.

Using the online textbook practice (especially if you struggle with the in-context activities).
