Live, Not As Unwise, But As WiseEphesians 5:15-16January 3, 2021“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,?making the most of every opportunity,?because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)We are to _____________ use the time God has given us.“Be wise?in the way you act toward outsiders;?make the most of every opportunity.” (Colossians 4:5)“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)“Every good and perfect gift is from above,?coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,?who does not change?like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)“But He answered and said to them,?“My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”” (Luke 8:21)“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind?and straining toward what is ahead,?I press on?toward the goal to win the prize?for which God has called?me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)“not giving up meeting together,?as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)“As long as it is day,?we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.” (John 9:4)We want a greater involvement in serving and using our gifts to serve. Everyone finding a place to serve. We want to see increased involvement in groups.Stronger relationships in the communityImplement a specific reproducible discipleship strategy.Develop leadershipJesus > Everything (over)Christ is preeminent over everyone and everything. Nothing will fill the longing in our hearts like Jesus. He completes us. “In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Col. 2:3)?“In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,”?and you are complete in Him.” (Col. 2:9) Jesus has no rivals. He is our Savior, our King, and our Lord. The Bible is Central (sit under the Bible)Every word of God proves true (Prov. 30:5). God’s Word is truth even when it goes against our feelings. The Lord speaks through the faithful preaching of God’s Word. As this Word is preached, diligence in listening is required so we can respond in faith. Responding rightly in worship is anchoring our hope in Christ alone.Prayer fuels the furnacePrayer is not a last minute, final option when all other resources are exhausted. It is not an add-on to the Christian life. It is foundational. After all, Jesus did not state that his house would be a house of worship or preaching or ministry. Jesus stated, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer…’” (Mt. 21:13). Prayer fuels the furnace. It’s impossible to properly love God and love others without prayer. Prayer is not an end in itself. Instead, prayer is the means to a relationship with God. Prayer changes us. People are the MissionEveryone needs Jesus! Sometimes, we get wrapped up in church programs and religious activity that we miss out on what we are all about. We must have a Kingdom mindset. We are a city on a hill (Matt. 5:14) and desire to see people from every tribe, tongue, and nation come to saving faith. But it doesn’t stop with salvation. That’s just the beginning. Disciple-making is imperative involving replication (2 Tim. 2:2). Every disciple should one day be a disciple-maker. Lives are TransformedAs new creations (2 Cor. 5:17) having been gripped by the grace of God in salvation, everything has changed. The Spirit indwells believers who are now gifted in various ways to build up the body of Christ (Eph. 4:12). We are not our own having been bought with a price (1 Cor. 6:19-20). Now we are no longer marked by pride and selfish desires. Instead, we are servant leaders who live purposefully, selflessly, and sacrificially. ................
