REMINDER TO ALL MEMBERS

Lockheed Martin's Workplace Security policy, CPS-565 is strictly enforced. One provision of the policy is a workplace free of weapons, which includes Firearms, Ammunition, Bows and Arrows. The club must emphasize this policy to our members. Additionally, a state issued CCW permit does not supersede nor over ride this LMA policy.

Members wanting to store firearms or archery equipment during the day ONLY, must contact Gene Adamson (1-1531) or Dave Mulholland (7-3674) for access instructions.

SKEET SEASON

Skeet shooting is currently on hold until the High House is repaired. Once the repairs are completed, Sheet shooting will resume and will continue on every Tuesday evening until October 30th. Shooting will start at approx. 5:00 pm and will continue until everyone is done. Please contact Tim Anderson at (303) 977-6187 to ensure that there will be shooters planning on attending every week.

TRAP SEASON

Trap shooting will start on Thursday March 15th and will continue on every Thursday evening until October 30th. Shooting will start at approx. 5:00 pm and will continue until everyone is done. Please contact Ray Schwindt at (303) 985-8072.

ROAD CONDITIONS

With the spring months upon us, keep in mind that the access to the ranges may be snow covered or muddy and slick from rain. Keep the conditions in mind before you try to get back there and find yourself stuck.

Note: The 2007 SHFC Safety and Range access test has been loaded into the SHFC website above and listed above under “Membership”. Some members may have experienced difficulty in accessing the SHFC 2007 Safety Test required for membership renewal. If you experienced difficulty in opening the safety test and printing it from the SHFC membership web page, please try again. The page has been updated with two file types added, a PDF and a HTML, and the link to the MS Word file was improved.

Previous SHFC members who have chosen not to renew by 1 June 2007 will be dropped from the club roster. Total fees to re-join SHFC after June 1 will be $ 95.00.

CIVILIAN MARKSMANSHIP PROGRAM (CMP)

The CMP matches start at 09:00 am every off-Friday. If you need more information about the shoots, CMP in general, want to be added to the shoot notification list, have a military-style rifle that you want to know if you can use, or need a rifle to use, call Gene Adamson @ 971-1531, or email at gene.adamson@

HIGHPOWER MATCHES

If you have participated in Skyline's High-power (CMP style) matches, or are interested in competing in High-power matches (Service Rifle or Match Rifle) held around the country, you may be interested in attending a clinic at Boulder Rifle Club (BRC). The clinic goes through all aspects of Service Rifle competition, and what to expect at matches. Various instructors, who are Masters, High Masters and Distinguished Riflemen, demonstrate proper position; discuss equipment requirements and use, training, and mental preparation for competition. Classroom instruction is reinforced by live fire and individual coaching at BRC's 200-yard range (in case of inclement weather, they substitute dry-firing at the indoor range). The clinic will be held at the Boulder Rifle Club on Boulder's north side, Saturday April 7th, 08:00 AM to 11:30 AM for the classroom session and 12:00 to 3:00 PM for the range session. Cost is $25.00 per person, which includes ammo if you use BRC's rifles. For more details, please e-mail Mike Walton at bigbadgerboy@ or contact Dennis Casey at 1-7197 (dennis.m.casey@.) Clinic and match dates and locations for 2007 season will be posted on the SHFC website. The club will also be putting together teams for attending the shoots. Any and all members are welcome to come to these shoots.

Please also see the High Power Competition Schedule for the 2007 season.

The schedule lists the various clinics, as well as the matches for the season. The High Power clinic at Boulder Rifle Club on 4/7 is excellent for anyone wanting to compete in High Power, especially those who have not been to a match outside of our SHFC matches.

The Buffalo Creek clinics emphasize the various shooting positions and distances. There are four clinics throughout the season, one for each of the four stages in a High Power “across-the-course” match, i.e., shooting in position from the 200, 300, and 600 yard firing lines. The clinics include a lecture session, and live fire with coaching. They are an excellent way to get expert coaching, as well as becoming familiar with how an across-the-course match is run.

For any SHFC member who plans to compete in any matches this season, please talk to Gene Adamson to get a SHFC Shooting Team t-shirt. There are many and varied opportunities to compete this season: service rifle, Garand matches, Any/Any matches, Match Rifle, etc. Get out there and shoot!

HIGH POWER RESULTS FOR MARCH

The competitive High Power season is in now full swing. The schedule for the season has numerous events at local ranges like Buffalo Creek, Boulder Rifle Club, Colorado Rifle Club, as well as other locations from Raton, NM to Cheyenne, WY. Check the club website for the schedule as well as articles for the aspiring high power competitor.

Dan Britt, Gene Adamson and Dennis Casey represented the Skyline Shooting Team in the Boulder Rifle Club High Power match on March 17th. Dan won two of the five stages for Sharpshooter and was 2nd Sharpshooter overall. Gene was second in one Expert stage, and Dennis had a 1st, 2nd, and 4th in the Master class stages to finish 2nd in that class.

We conduct our own matches every off-Friday, finishing by noon or 1 PM. We welcome all types of high power service or match rifles; some choose to shoot the Garand or M1A but the AR is the choice of most. The club has two ARs, and a spotting scope with stand which are available to use during matches. Ammo is also available at a reasonable price.

Below are results from two recent Skyline High Power matches:

PRACTICAL PISTOL LITE

We will start Practical Pistol Lite on April 2nd. This is a Monday and we will continue on every other Monday, no more Tuesdays. So, that will mean that we will hold the matches on April 2nd, 16th and 30th, May 14th but not May 28th (Memorial Day) and so on. The theme has changed to address more personal protection and actual defensive shooting and less timed shooting. If you want to see how fast you can shoot a course, this is not the activity for you. Make sure to bring your semi-auto pistol (9mm up to 45 cal), holster, 3 magazines, mag holster and at least 50 rounds. Plus we will include a stage for the tactical shotgun. Starting time will be 5:00 pm at the Pistol House and continue on for about 2 hours. Call Tom Frickell 303-971-5493

PRACTICAL PISTOL LITE – LADIES ONLY

We will start Practical Pistol Lite for Ladies Only on April 9th and will continue every other Monday through September from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Pistol House This is a new activity and is for women shooters only - men can watch, only if you are there with a shooter, but will not participate. Men may instruct if part of the official instructors’ group, otherwise they must be silent and patient. Participants can shoot anything from a .22 caliber up to a .45 caliber, revolvers or semi-autos will be allowed. Holsters are not necessary but would benefit the learning process. Men, tell your friends, wives, daughters, granddaughters about this and get them out to the range. It is your chance to shine. Ladies, it is your chance to have some great fun and enhance your skills. So far I have received quite a few inquiries with a least 7 ladies stating they will come. Call Tom Frickell 303-971-5493

COWBOY ACTION SHOOTING

We will start Cowboy Action Shooting (SASS) on April 12th, at the Pistol House starting at 5:00 pm and every other Thursday from then on. It will be your chance to try out all those new toys you acquired since last October. Remember – LEAD ONLY BULLETS for pistol and rifle and #6 or smaller lead shot only for the shotgun. SASS is now above 75,000 members, so that many cowboys can’t be wrong. If nothing else, come out and watch some of the best fun you have. Call Tom Frickell 303-971-5493

PROPOSED BY-LAW CHANGES

There are a number of proposed By-Law changes that will be up for discussion at the April General Membership Meeting and final vote at the May General Membership Meeting. The following is a list of some of the proposed changes:

1). Add United Launch Alliance (ULA) personnel

2). Raising the Annual dues from $ 60.00 to $ 72.00

3). Change term limit for Officers

4). Correct the reference to Lockheed Martin

The complete listing of all the proposed changes is found in the attached document, Bylaws07.

ACCURACY SHOOTING TOOLS

If you are into accuracy shooting (target, high-power, bench rest, varmint, balloons, pop cans, and water filled jugs) you are probably aware that K&M Services makes some neat tools to improve the accuracy of your hand loads. Most of the items they make are targeted for rifle shooters (up to .338 caliber & some .50 cal), but some of their tools will also work on pistol cases. We have a dealer account with them.

John Parker will be taking over the account and we are working on an order. The current price sheet I have is obsolete, but John will be working on getting a current one.

Based on 2003 info, there is no minimum dollar order, but some items (not all) require a minimum quantity to get a discount. Their MICRO ADJUSTABLE neck turner is one of these items, 4 or more are needed. I want one because it is a much better tool than anything Sinclair, Hornady, Marquart or anyone makes. It’s adjustable and controllable to 0.0001 inch. With the steel pilot it’s about $ 42.00 (TBR '03 price) and with the carbide pilot its $ 61.60 (TBR '03 price). Shipping is free with prepaid orders. Sales tax will be 5.1%.

If you are interested in anything they make, email John or I. I have their catalog. Or you can get your own by calling them at 605-996-9984. Web sight is KMProducts.htm

Let me know if you are interested in any of their stuff so we can get an order together in the next few weeks or sooner if the response is overwhelming.

Thanks.
