SALT WATER HOT TUB START-UP GUIDE

For Hydropool hot tubs equipped with EZ Ultra Pure Salt Water Bromine systems (Gecko in.clear)

A - INITIAL START-UP

Ensure that your hot tub water is circulating (pump on) when adding water care products so that products can properly circulate throughout the entire body of water.

(1) Prior to filling your hot tub, bring a sample of your source water to your local Hydropool retailer for a fresh fill analysis. PLEASE NOTE: - TDS of source water must be below 500ppm. - Do not use source water from a water softener system. - A pre filter on the end of a hose should be used to remove metals and minerals from source water. - Source water must contain no phosphates.

(2) Fill the hot tub as per guidelines in hot tub manual. Allow water to heat to a minimum of 80 degrees prior to continuing any further.

(3) Balance your hot tub as per your fresh fill analysis provided by your Hydropool retailer. (Total Alkalinity: 100 - 120PPM; pH: 7.2 - 7.8; Calcium hardness: 150 - 200ppm

(4) If your water has phosphates, treat the water with pho free as per your retailers instructions or refer to appendix B for instructions. Wait 24 hours then rinse filter of any phosphates that have collected in filter.

(5) Add initial dose of Hydropool Certified Stain & Scale. (Must contain no phosphates) (6) Add ? a pkg of EZ Start for hot tubs under 1300L and a full pkg for anything over 1300L by

broadcasting over the water surface. Alternatively, add 2 bromine tablets to bromine feeder or skimmer basket. This will provide an immediate bank of Bromine and allow the salt system to start creating Bromine. (7) Add initial dose of Hydropool EZ Bank (1L per 300L of water), or 1.2 lbs/100 Gallons. See appendix A for instructions. ***NOTE**** These instructions are to be used in place of instructions on EZ Bank Bottle (8) Set your salt system to a maintenance mode of 50 and leave your filtration cycles at 24hrs/day, 7 days/week. If your Bromine Levels get too high you will need to reduce the maintenance mode setting. (9) Allow the tub to run overnight, cover on. (10)Bring test sample of water into retailer to ensure proper levels are met. Proper level on sodium bromide test strip is 7.0 ? 7.4 or on the salt display 12.00 ? 14.50. (11) Enjoy!

IMPORTANT NOTE: For the first few weeks of enjoying your new salt water hot tub, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to get your water analyzed at your local Hydropool retailer weekly. The retailer will then make the recommendations to decrease maintenance setting or filtration times

B - REGULAR USAGE

PRIOR TO USING YOUR HOT TUB

Your salt system is designed to produce enough bromine to keep your water safe and clear while not in use. Prior to using your hot tub, the bromine level must be boosted to accommodate the appropriate amount of bathers. This is achieved by using the boost button on the salt system. Press the boost button once to turn the boost function on. Your display will read "ON" (if your display already reads "ON", skip this step). Push the boost button again, and a number will be flashing. This number is meant to indicate the amount of bathers about to enter the hot tub. If there are three of you entering the hot tub, use the up/down arrow buttons to select "3". Hit the boost button again to lock it in and start the boost function.

AFTER USING YOUR HOT TUB

After any period of extended use, apply 2 scoops of EZ Boost Lite per (1300L) by broadcasting over the water surface. Ensure that water is circulating; leave cover off and wait 15 minutes before closing your cover

C - SALT WATER HOT TUB WEEKLY MAINTENANCE GUIDE

For Hydropool hot tubs equipped with EZ Ultra Pure Salt Water Bromine systems (Gecko in.clear)

In order to maintain safe, clear and inviting hot tub water quality, it is highly recommended to pick a specific day each week to test and balance your hot tub water. Always maintain the following parameters to keep your water balanced and safe for you and your family:

Steps for Balancing Your Hot Tub Water: Refer to Appendix C for Levels

(1) Balance Total Alkalinity (TA). (2) Balance pH. (3) Balance Calcium Hardness. (4) The ideal Bromine level is between 3-5ppm or in the "OK" range on your test strip. If you can

only get a 1-3 ppm reading and the water is clear then the system is working, enjoy your tub. (5) Add weekly dosage of Hydropool Certified Spa Stain & Scale Control (from Natural Chemistry)

(25ml per 1000L). (6) Shock your water with Hydropool EZ Boost Lite (1 scoop per 1100L) by broadcasting over

surface. Heavy bather load may require more frequent applications. Allow water to circulate for approx. 15 minutes with the cover off. (7) Every -week, put your hot tub in stand-by mode, and clean your hot tub filter.

MONTHLY

Ensure that you have your water tested at your local certified Hydropool retailer. Ensure that they are testing for bromine, sodium bromide and phosphates.

D - TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

What if my bromine level is low or my water is cloudy?

Test Bromine Level (Not Sodium Bromide Level) ? If level is low

(1) Test sodium bromide levels with a sodium bromide test strips (Proper level on the Aquacheck NaBr Test Strip is between 7.0 ? 7.4 which is approx 1400ppm or on the old style gecko (Prior to Sept 2014 salt display) 12.00 ? 14.50). If low, add EZ Bank until sodium bromide level is correct. If there is not enough sodium bromide there will never be enough Bromine

(2) Make sure hot tub filtration cycles are set to run continuously (24-7). (3) Check the Maintenance Level on the salt system. For average usage, a setting of 30 should

suffice. For heavy usage, Maintenance Level should be set to 50. Ensure that the Boost function is being used properly. The in.clear salt system provides you with a baseline level of bromine when nobody is using the hot tub (Maintenance Mode). Prior to each usage, the customer must use the Boost function to increase the bromine level to the appropriate amount, based on bather load. *NOTE: Pressing the Boost button once does not turn it on! Once you've pressed the Boost button, the boost number should be flashing (i.e. a setting of "3" for three bathers). Use the up/down arrows to increase or decrease at this point. YOU MUST PRESS THE BOOST BUTTON AGAIN TO LOCK IN THE BOOST LEVEL AND START THE BOOST FUNCTION. If water is cloudy after usage on a regular basis, increase Boost level. (4) Bring a Test for phosphates; there can be no more than 100ppb (that's parts per BILLION) of phosphates in the water, and ideally you want that number to be as close to zero as possible. Ensure that Spa Phos Free is being used properly ? see appendix B. (5) Filter must be cleaned regularly ? this is the leading cause of cloudy water. Both the inner and outer core must be kept clean. (6) Ensure that the water is properly balanced. (7) Granular shock (EZ Boost Lite) should be used to help clean up the water quickly after usage.
