EE152 Electrical Wiring Drawing, Estimation and Costing L-T-P-Cr: 3 - 0 -0-3 Objective: To learn installation of wiring system and lighting accessories, protective devises uses in Residential and commercial buildings for proper functioning of electrical system Prerequisite: Basic Electrical Engineering Outcome: Student will be able to design electrical wiring system Syllabus: Unit 1. Introduction: Wires, wire Splicing and Termination, Types and Installation of Wiring Systems, Lighting Accessories. Electrical Symbols. 03 Lecture Unit 2. Protective Devises: Introduction, Protective devices used in Residential, Commercial and Industrial buildings for protection of wiring system, Fuse, MCM, MCCB, ELCB/RCCB and other Circuit Breakers. 02 Lecture Unit 3. Internal Wiring System: Design and Drawing of Internal wiring system for various types of Residential, Commercial and Industrial buildings, Electrical layout, Different types of circuits, Light circuit, Power circuit, Sub-main wiring, Main wiring, Single Line diagram. Load Calculation. 08 Lecture Illumination: Introduction, Nature of light, Different types of Lamps used in Residential, Commercial and Industrial buildings. Lighting schemes, Methods of Lighting Calculations (Watt per sqm method, Lumen or Light flux method, point to point or Inverse Square Law method). 04 Lecture Unit 4. External Wiring System: Introduction, Different types of Under Ground (UG) Cables, Cable Laying, Electrical Control Panels, Feeder Pillar, External Electrical Distribution System, Single Line Diagram, Load Calculations, General Specifications of Generating Set, Transformer, Circuit Breakers. Street Lighting. 07 Lecture Unit 5. Earthing and Lighting Arrestor: Introduction, Different types of earthing system, Plate earting, Pipe Earthing, Lighting Arrestor. 02 Lecture Unit 6. Communication System: Introduction, Different types of communication system used in Residential and Commercial buildings/areas. Layout of Telephone/ Intercom/ T.V. System. Introduction to LAN (Local Area Networking), Layout, HUB, Switches, Introduction to Server, On-line & Off-line UPS. 04 Lecture Unit 7. Estimating and Costing; Introduction, Estimating and Costing of Internal and External Wiring System (a) based upon actual measurement and prevailing market rate and rate analysis (b) based upon Government Schedule of rates. 12 Lecture Suggested Reading: 1.
