A total of 120,000 men and women aged 55-69 have taken part in the study since it started in 1986. The #3 researchers from Maastricht University asked the participants how often they eat peanuts and how many they eat. They then looked at how many of the people in the group developed illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and respiratory diseases. The results of the research, published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, concluded that eating 10-15 grams of peanuts daily can reduce a person's chances of suffering from these diseases.
