Day #1-

Beatitude-

Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

Bee Attitude-

“I don’t need anyone’s help!”

(Bee-bee walks out to his theme music carrying a box that is obviously too heavy for him.)

Can I help you?

BB- No I got it! (begins dropping things)

Are you sure?

BB- I said I got it. I don’t need anyone’s help!

But you keep dropping things.

BB- (losing his temper) I said I got it!

Ok (as he just keeps dropping more stuff and gets exhausted with it and gives up and sits down.) so who are you anyway?

BB- My name is Bee-Bee, and I came here to teach the kids about Bee-attitudes.

Oh really! Well go ahead.

BB- Like I said earlier…. Bee’s don’t need anyones help. I always say, if you want something done right you just gotta do it yourself.

I thought you said you were going to teach about the beatitudes?

BB- I am I am a bee and that is my attitude. I don’t need anyone’s help.

I think that maybe you are a little mixed up. We are learning about the beatitudes. Like the ones that Jesus taught during his “sermon on the mount.” Each beatitude that Jesus tells us to have comes with a promise.

BB- Well, I promise that if I do a job myself it will get done right.

No, you are not listening to me. For example Jesus first beatitude is:

Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

being poor in spirit is relying on God for help. It is knowing that you can’t do it alone and asking God to help you. Just the opposite of what you are talking about.

BB- That sounds great, but my attitude is “I don’t need anyone’s help. I gotta get going. (begins to gather all his stuff that he dropped)

Do you need any help?

BB- I think we covered this.

Ok, well lets all say goodbye to Bee-Bee.

(BB leaves the stage)

Day #2-

Beatitude-

Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted

Bee Attitude-

“Bee’s don’t cry. They just get over it.”

(BB comes out to his theme music and trips and falls and obviously hurts himself)

Oh my are you ok?

BB- I’m alright….OOUUUUCCCHHH!

Does it hurt?

BB- NOOOOO (winces in pain)

Its ok, just let it out. It is ok to cry!

BB- You brought me here to teach the kids about Bee-Attutudes, and I am going to show them what a bee-attitude is.

What are you talking about?

BB- “Bee’s don’t cry. They just get over it.” That’s a bee attitude. Just get over it.

I told you last week, that is not what we are talking about!

BB- Who better to teach the kids about a Bee-attutude than a bee. I think I got this. (still wincing in pain) I’ll just get over it.

You know, Jesus said in his sermon on the mount “Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.” That means it is ok to cry. And God promises that he will comfort us.

BB- Well, don’t worry about me. I don’t need any comfort.

Well I just happen to have a sponge bob band aid and that might make it feel better. Would you like me to help.

BB- well maybe…… NOOOOO! I’ll just get over it. I don’t need any comforting. I just gotta go home and get over it. (limping away)

Are you sure? (waiving his arm as if to say leave me alone) Ok ki8ds lets say bye to Bee-bee.

Day #3-

Beatitude-

Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth

Bee Attitude-

“Bees are better than people.”

(BB comes in to the music extremely excited.)

Why are you so happy today?

BB- Well, I was just reading some stuff and I realized that bees are so much better than people.

What are you talking about?

BB- well for example, bees can lift 10x their body weight, can people do that? (not giving him time to respond) NOOOOOO!

I’m not sure where all this is coming from.

BB- Well I just want to teach the kids the bee attitude of the day. Bees are better than people.

Ok, this really has to stop. This has nothing to do with what Jesus taught us. In fact it is the opposite. Jesus said “Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.” Being meek is humble. Even if you can do something better than someone else, you should be humble about it. Not brag about it.

BB- well that is the bee way. That is my bee attitude.

I think it is a bad attitude.

BB- You are the one who called me to come here.

This is not what I asked you to do.

BB- yes it is, you told me…….. wait a minute!

What?

BB- I know what is happening here! You are angry with me because you are jealous!

That is ridiculous!

BB- you know that bees are better than people and it makes you jealous.

I am just trying to teach the kids what the Bible says, and you are making it very difficult.

BB- jealous!!!!!!

I am not jealous. This is ridiculous. I am not going t argue with a bee! I think its time for you to go.

BB- I’ll go, but you are jealous! (theme music)

Am not!

BB- (as he leaves) are too!

BB- (as he leaves) are too!

Day #4

Beatitude-

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness sake- you shall be satisfied

Bee Attitude-

“Hunger and thirst for honey. You can never have too much!”

(BB comes in to his theme music drinking a cup of something.)

What’s up BB, how are you?

BB- I could not be better.

Are you a coffee drinker?

BB- oh no, that stuff is bad for you.

Well what is that, tea, hot chocolate?

BB- no even better! Honey!

You are drinking honey? That is disgusting!!!!

BB- no it is the best, and today’s bee-attitude is “Hunger and thirst for honey. You can never have too much!”

You know these things you have been teaching us are not very useful. People do not drink honey.

BB- well maybe they should.

Can I tell you what Jesus wants us to hunger and thirst for?

BB- why not.

Jesus tells us to “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness sake- you shall be satisfied.” What that means is that we should always want to be righteous and live by what God wants us to do. If we do that we will be satisfied.

BB- now this righteousness stuff. Does it taste as good as honey?

You can’t taste it.

BB- then what is the point of drinking it?

You don’t drink it. Jesus is telling us that we should want to have righteousness just like bees want to have honey.

BB- you know that is the first thing that you have said that makes any sense at all!

I’m glad we are finally on the same page.

BB- me too. Would you like some honey?

No thanks.

BB- ok more for me. I gotta get going.

(leaves to the theme music)

Day #5

Beatitude-

Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy

Bee Attitude-

“If someone hurts you, STING THEM!!!”

(BB comes in to his music)

BB- You know I am really upset!

What’s wrong BB?

BB- well my friend and I were playing football and he hit me in the face with the ball.

Well I’m sure it was an accident.

BB- Probably, but I don’t care. I gotta get him back.

That’s not a very nice attitude to have.

BB- no, its not, but it is a bee-attitude. Us bees always say: “If someone hurts you, STING THEM!!!”

That’s a terrible attitude to have. Haven’t you every heard of mercy?

BB- no, who is she?

No mercy is not a person. Mercy is forgiving someone when they do something worng even if they do not deserve it.

BB- Why would anyone do that?

Well, Jesus tells us that “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.” That is the beatitude that Jesus teaches us about.

BB- so if you forgive people when they are mean to you, then people will have mercy on you and forgive you if you mess up.

That’s right. I think you got it.

BB- that sounds great!! I like that.

I’m glad you understand.

BB- Yea, but enough of all this talk, I gotta figure our how I am gonna get my friend back for what he did to me.

What about what we just talked about.

BB- oh, well I’ll just meet your friend mercy some other time.

You are hopeless.

BB- I gotta go. I’ll see you all later.

Day #6

Beatitude-

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God

Bee Attitude-

“Do what you want just don’t get caught.”

(BB enters to his theme music)

BB- Hahaha! I did it!

You did what?

BB- I got my friend back from hitting me with the football.

What?

BB- Don’t you remember what we talked about last week. I got him back. I put hot sauce in his honey jar!

Revenge is not a good idea.

BB- well he started it. And besides he will never know it was me. That reminds me of our bee-attitude for today. “Do what you want just don’t get caught.”

That is not the point. Jesus tells us that “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” He wants us to have pure hearts. Even if we never get caught doing bad things they are still wrong.

BB- but if nobody know why does it matter?

Jesus wants us to have a pure heart. That means doing what is right even if nobody ever know about it.

BB- well I guess that makes sense.

So what are you gonna do about it?

BB- I guess I should tell my friend about the hot sauce before he eats it.

I’m so proud of you BB. You are finally getting it.

BB- Don’t get all sappy on me. I gotta go warn my friend. See you later (leaves to theme music.

Day #7

Beatitude-

Blessed are the peacemakers, you shall be called the sons of God

Bee Attitude-

“When in doubt sting!”

(BB Runs in out of breath to the music)

Are you ok?

BB- Yea, I think it is safe in here.

Safe from what?

BB- oh, nothing.

OK, well what happened with your friend.

BB- (Very defensive) what do you mean?

Remember you were going to tell your friend that you put hot sauce in his honey.

BB- Weeeeeeellllllll

What happened?

BB- I stung him?

You did what?

BB- well he ate the honey and found out that it was me before I could get there and today I went back to see him. He was so angry with me and was yelling, so I stung him.

Why?

BB- I thought he was gonna sting me. That reminds me. Today’s bee attitude is “When in doubt sting!” I flew like 3 miles until I lost him. Boy was he mad! I’m glad I can hide in here.

You can’t! That is not what we talked about last week. Beside I want to tell you this weeks real beatitude. Jesus said “Blessed are the peacemakers, you shall be called the sons of God.” We should be peacemakers. Do you know what that means

BB- no not really

It means you make peace. It means you do not fight.

BB- But he was going to get me.

It does not matter. God wants you to be a peace maker. Now go apologize to your friend.

BB- But I don’t want to!

NOW!

BB- ok (leaves unenthusiastically to his music)

Day #8

Beatitude-

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake- yours is the kingdom of heaven

Bee Attitude-

Question of the day- “Why do people always try to kill you when you are minding your own business? It’s not fair”

(BB comes in to his theme music)

So did everything work out with your friend?

BB- oh yea, he stung me back and then we talked it out and hugged and made up.

He stung you and you didn’t do anything back.

BB- no, I decided to be a peacemaker.

I am very proud of you.

BB- you know I have one question. I really think that your beatitudes are better than my Bee attitudes. They are a lot nicer.

What is your question.

BB- “Why do people always try to kill you when you are minding your own business? It’s not fair”

Nobody has ever done that to me.

BB- but they do it to bees.

Hmmm. I guess I never thought about it, but I have done that before.

BB- YOU!!!!!

I mean there is someone who I heard about once thinking about doing such a thing but it was not me or anyone closely associated with me.

BB- (kinda confused) oh, but why do they do that?

I really don’t know, but now that I think about it, people do that to other people sometimes. It really is not fair.

BB- really- when?

Jesus said- Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake- yours is the kingdom of heaven. People get treated badly just for doing what is right.

BB- that does not make any sense. It is not fair.

I know, but God promises to those people that “theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

BB- so it is not just bees. That’s interesting. I really learned a lot about the beatitudes. Thanks so much. I’m gonna go and tell the rest of the colony. See ya later!
