Work in groups of four. What job do you know in English? How many jobs can your team write for each group?

Emily : I’m going to become a computer programmer.

Janet : A programmer? I thought you wanted to work at a bank.

Emily : Well, a programmer’s job is more interesting than a bank teller’s.

Janet : Yes, but it is more difficult.

Emily : But think of the higher pay.

Janet : I guess so.

Emily : What are you going to do?

Janet : I don’t know yet. Being a store clerk is OK for now.

A Secretary

Working hour 60 hour per week; 6 days in a week; work overtime on weekends; salary: Rp. 2 million; health care and allowances; insurance; eager to have errands (business trip) out of town with the boss.

A Salesperson

Working hour 40 hours per week; 5 days in a week; no work overtime; salary: Rp. 1.2 million + commissions up to Rp. 400.000 if selling is good; insurance; no allowance.

A Computer Programmer

Working hour 50 hours per week; 6 days in a week; no work overtime; salary: Rp. 1.5 million + bonus up to Rp. 200.000; allowance and insurance.
