Dean’s Meeting FAQ from discussion on 10/29/20Q: Do most parishes have access to Microsoft excel?A: Most parishes have access to Microsoft excel or Google sheets (comparable).Q: Doesn’t the chancery office have parish boundary information?A: We have come up with a solution to gather parish boundary information. Consider this item complete.Q: Why can’t the chancery office pull financial data? Don’t they have access to it? A: Rob will inquire further at the chancery. Please continue to ask for this information from parishes as we know this will be the most accurate/complete set of financials we can get.Q: Why do we need parishioner household giving data?A: Individual address and giving data will be rolled up and reported in the aggregate and helps to gauge engagement of parishioners. It also allows Partners Edge to have the information necessary to do comparative data analysis which is essential in the planning process. Q: What student data do we need from schools?A: Pastors are to gather data for school families that attend the catholic school they are responsible for. This data will likely come from two databases. Financial data such as stated tuition and financial aid given will come from a system such as TADS or FACTS. Address, Catholicity, grade, Special education designation will be obtained from the school management software (Powerschool, Cornerstone, etc.). Q: Does the Archdiocesan schools office have student data? A: The data the schools office has is not detailed enough for the data analysis being done.Q: How do we join the school data for students with financial data from a different database? A: If there is a unique identifier on both sets of data (Student ID #, Address) Partners Edge could merge the two data sets. However, if the parish has the ability to merge this data please do so as you will be able to recognize whether the data merged correctly thus ensuring accuracy of the data provided. Q: Which church management system is most common in our Archdiocese?A: Deans thought PDS is most common but there are some that utilize Parishsoft.Q: What is the difference between Contributions/Stewardship giving and Diocesan pass throughs? A: Think of Contributions as those monies given that are utilized for parish programs, services, salaries and other expenses. Pass throughs are those monies given that “pass through” the parish but do not remain with the parish. Examples include Peter’s Pence, Loaves and Fishes, St. Vincent de Paul, Mission Sunday, Retired Priests and Religious collection. Q: How will Catholic Service Appeal money be included?A: The planning team will discuss the possibility of including this data in the analysis and how that might be done.Q: Do we need to attribute financial aid to individual students?A: Yes. By doing so it helps us to provide more detailed analysis once the data is aggregated by common attributes such as median income by census block.Q: How will online mass counts be utilized?A: With the onset of Covid, we know there has been a change in how parishioners participate in Mass. We know online Mass counts will be utilized but are not sure how to use this information until we receive it from parishes.Q: Doesn’t the downtown Schools office have grade level counts?A: The schools office has total counts per grade provided each year by the school principal but not the count per classroom that is being requested.Q: How are we assuring data is accurate?A: Each pastor is asked to assure that the data provided is as accurate as possible. After the data is received all the datasets for a particular parish will be compared and the project team may need to ask follow-up questions if irregularities are found. Data accuracy is critical. ................
