The Update Aquatic is a free update that brings exciting gameplay changes to Minecraft. Players will find new blocks, items, and mobs and can now explore coral reefs, swim with dolphins, uncover shipwrecks and find buried treasure. Use this guide to learn about some of coolest the new features so you can jump right in and start using the new content in your classroom

New features let you build and create underwater in new and exciting ways. Swim with dolphins, build your own aquarium, and grow your own coral reef.

Name Dolphin

Description

Just like real dolphins, this new mob is usually found in groups and must emerge from the water periodically to breathe. They will often chase players in boats. Look for the Spawn Dolphin egg in the creative inventory to create your own.

Bucket of Fish

Use a bucket to catch fish underwater, and release them, live, to a desired location.

Coral/Coral Block

Kelp, dried Kelp, Kelp Bock

Sea Grass

Can be found in several variants including: tube, brain, bubble, fire, and horn. Quickly die outside of water.

Animated block. Can only be placed underwater. Will grow quickly with bone meal. Can be dried in a furnace and eaten. Combine nine dried kelp to make a Dried Kelp Block, which lasts 2.5 times longer than coal.

Sea Pickles Trident

Glow when placed underwater. Can be placed up to four in a block. Each additional sea pickle in a group adds to the illumination. Can be smelted to produce Lime Dye

Can be used as a projectile similar to an arrow. When thrown, can be picked up from the ground. When enchanted with Loyalty, will return to the user once thrown.

Several new ocean biomes (climate zones) and locations can be found in the Update Aquatic. Take a swim to find topical fish, coral reefs, and dolphins, and more.

Shipwrecks Icebergs Ruins

Description

Use a bucket to catch fish underwater, and release them, live, to a desired location.

Found on the ocean floor, shipwrecks come in several states of disrepair. They may appear upright, sideways, or upside down. Searching inside may reveal one or more treasure chests often containing a Buried Treasure Map. Can be found with /locate.

Made of ice, can be found in frozen oceans. Can spawn polar bears.

Usually made of stone bricks or sandstone they come in a variety of sizes and shapes and are found in both warm and cold oceans. Often contain a treasure chests. Can be found with / locate.

NEW GAMEPLAY CHANGES

? Players can now "sprint" underwater to swim faster. Uses the same controls as sprinting on land. ? Clarity of water in-game has been improved to increase visibility and allow players to see further underwater. ? Shipwrecks and ruins may hold Treasure Maps.
