Activity #1

1. Locate the pretest and complete it according to the instructions before you go to the next step.

2. Review the following vocabulary words before you begin the module. When you find the words in the reading material, text or videos as you come to them during the next four days and define them on your own paper. Title this paper, “Vocabulary-Caring for Your Clothes.”

Activity #2

1. Locate Activity Two Worksheet, Sorting Laundry, and Applying Life Skills textbook. Read pages 547-557. Complete worksheet and put it in your folder.

2. Locate the textbook, Discovering Life Skills. Read pages 303 and 304. Locate worksheet Activity 87 Tag Talk. On your own paper answer the questions. Title this paper, “Activity #2-Tag Talk.” Put this paper in your folder.

3. Locate and watch the DVD Laundry Blues. Write 10 facts from the DVD. These facts must be complete thoughts. Label this activity Laundry Blues and put it in your folder.

4. Clean up your module area and make sure that everything is returned to its proper location.

5. For extra credit locate the worksheets, “Laundry Home Project” and “At Home Ironing Experience.” Complete as directed at home, making sure you get a parent signature with a comment on each sheet. These two (2) extra credit assignments are worth 20 points.

Activity #3

1. Locate the textbook, Applying Life Skills. Read page 555 Buttons.

2. Locate the button, thread, hand-sewing needle, shears, toothpick, and piece of fabric in the tote tray cabinet.

3. Follow the directions on page 555 of the text, Applying Life Skills,” for sewing on a button. Put completed project in your folder.

4. Locate the pieces of fabric sewn together (with part of the seam ripped out) in the designated location. Using the directions on page 343 of the text, Discovering Life Skills for backstitch. Repair the seam with the needle and thread using the backstitch. Put repaired seam in your folder.

5. Clean up your module area and make sure that everything is returned to its proper location.

Activity #4

1. Complete any unfinished work.

2. Locate the posttest and complete it according to the directions.

3. Locate in the module notebook, the information sheet, “Stain Removal Guide.”

Locate the worksheet, “Removing Stains Lab Sheet.” Go to the Laundry Area and locate the Stain Removal supplies in the cabinet marked, “Laundry Supplies.” The teacher will have the stained swatches of fabric for you. You can find them in the tote tray cabinet. Pick only two swatches. Follow the directions on the “Removing Stains Lab Sheet.” Show the teacher your swatches after you have attempted to remove the stains. Place this sheet in your folder after completing it.

4. Get out a piece of notebook paper and place your name, class, and student number in the top right hand corner. Put the module name on the top line. Copy the following list, and then gather the assignments in order. Place this cover sheet on top and staple together. Paper clips your test answer sheet on top.

5. Cleanup your module area and make sure that everything is returned to its proper location.

Enrichment: Using the stain chart in this module, chose 5 stains that apply to you. If you are active outdoors, you will include grass and perspiration along with 3 other stains. Go to a student computer and type the method of removal into Microsoft word. Then, using either construction paper or a drawing tool on the computer, draw a shirt or a pair of shorts and attach your personal stain removal chart to it. Turn in your personal chart with your module to earn extra credit. When returned, take this chart home and hand it in your laundry area.
