Embedding a YouTube Video into a Blackboard Course

This tutorial shows how to Embed a YouTube video into a Blackboard Course. The same procedure applies if you want to embed a YouTube video into an announcement or assignment.

1. Locate the YouTube video that you wish to embed. Click on the Embed tab located underneath the video.

2. Copy the HTML code from the Embed window.

3. Go to your Blackboard Course and click on a Content folder. From the menu choices, click on Create Item.

4. The Create Item screen will appear.

5. Enter a document name.

6. Click on the Toggle HTML Source Code [< >] button, located in the second row of the edit options.

7. Remove the existing HTML Code from the Text Editor.

8. The Text Editor is now empty.

9. Paste the HTML code from the YouTube video into the Text Editor.

10. Click on the Toggle HTML Source Code [< >] button.

11. The Text Editor box will appear empty. This is expected.

12. Click Submit.

13. After you click Submit, a green Success message appears at the top of the screen.

14. Click on the Play button to confirm that the YouTube video can be viewed.

While this example showed how to Embed a YouTube video into a Blackboard Course, the same procedure applies to Embed a YouTube video into Announcements, Assignments, and/or Information documents, if so desired.
