PROCEDURES FOR SAVING SCANNED MICROFILM IMAGESAfter you have scanned the desired material, it is very important that you save it. The first method would be to save directly to a flashdrive on the computer you are working on.If you do not have a flashdrive with you, you can save to a network folder which will allow you to access the material you scanned on computers throughout the library.The PROCESSInitially you will be saving to a LOCAL folder on the hard drive of the computer you are working on. Eventually you will want to transfer your saved files to a network folder.To save to a local folder:In the task bar along the top, click on SAVE. The following box will appear…You will need to create a new folder in which to save your scans. Next to the SAVE IN drop down menu, you see 4 icons. Click on the second one from the right, CREATE NEW FOLDER. You will see this….Type in a name for the new folder. Click open. You will see this…Type in a file name for the scans you are saving. Click SAVE. You have now saved the scans to a local documents folder.When you have saved all the scans you need, close down all functions, returning to the Microfilm Imaging Instructions homepage (see next photo).SAVING TO THE NETWORK DOCUMENTS FOLDERYou will then want to transfer the file you have saved from the local document folder to the Network Documents Folder. This will allow you to access your saved documents on computers throughout the libraries.Click on SAVED DOCUMENTS FOLDERS (left side of screen)You will then see this…Click OK. You will then see this…Click OK (or wait). The LOCAL MY DOCUMENTS folder will open. You will see this…Click OK or wait. The NETWORK DOCUMENTS FOLDER will open.What you wish to do is transfer material from the LOCAL folder to the NETWORK folder. Find the file that you saved in the LOCAL folder and drag it to the NETWORK folder. This will allow you to view and work with the material on computers throughout the library.When the file is safely in the NETWORK DOCUMENTS folder, you can then close out all functions on this computer. The next step is to access the scanned images on another computer in the Library. ................
