Promoting Academic & Social Skills (PASS) The PASS Program serves students with a broad spectrum of learning and communication needs who require a moderate to high level of individualization and support. A student’s primary disability may include Autism Spectrum Disorders or a moderate/significant developmental delay WITH significant social and sensory needs. The PASS Program provides academic instruction, social skills training, behavioral intervention, individualized sensory diets, and/or related services. The Program provides an integrated array of services which may include speech and language, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and Adapted Physical Education.Students participating in this program have opportunities for the development offunctional and adaptive skills to include recreation opportunities under the Adaptive Physical Education umbrella, as well as supported inclusive experiences in the general education setting. Students typically spend 1-2 hours in the general education classroom with moderate/significant support for academics. Students require moderate support both in and out of the general education setting and specialists throughout the day. Teaching approaches include: incidental and naturalistic instruction, direct and explicit instruction, visual supports, total communication approaches, individualized schedules, multisensory learning, structured classroom environments and routines, social skills training, and built-in opportunities for sensory regulation/ breaks. Teacher assistant support and significant modifications for Social Studies and Science occur as needed. Emphasis is placed on developing independence with a focus on fading supports as students progress through the grades.ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - Quinn Elementary Alternative curriculum is used to supplement general curriculum in a resource room setting. This curriculum addresses grade level standards with focus on essential learning and increasing basic skills. Opportunities for frequent repetition and review are provided. Students participate in mandatory state testing via standard and/or alternative assessment.MIDDLE SCHOOL - Dartmouth Middle SchoolAlternative curriculum is used to supplement general curriculum in a resource roomsetting. This curriculum addresses grade level standards with focus in essential learnings andincreasing basic skills. Opportunities for frequent repetition and review are provided. Support for organization and academics during academic support periods. Students participate in mandatory state testing via standard and/or alternative assessment.HIGH SCHOOL - Dartmouth High SchoolCo-teaching instruction is provided for academic periods. Academic support for organization/academics is provided during small group academic support periods. Students participate in mandatory state testing via standard and/or alternative assessment. ................
