How to submit recommendations via Naviance



The following is a step-by-step guide to introduce you to the system of completing and submitting recommendations and Common App Evaluation through Naviance.

When you receive a request from a student it will come to your email and read as follows:

Franklin Turtle has submitted a request for a teacher recommendation from you.

Personal message:

Please write me a letter of recommendation for USC.

Click reply to send a note directly to this student.*

*Note: If you do reply back to message it only goes to their Naviance email account.

1. Log in to Naviance Succeed:

You have received an email with a log in code to Naviance.

Account = asuphoenix

User name = provided in email

Password = provided in email

2. To access student recommendations request look in the top left-hand sidebar.

Once you log in you will see a screen entitled Teacher’s Desk

Click on Teacher Recommendations

*Manage and complete your college recommendations – Similar to the Common App, this is where all your student requests will be listed. See below for example.

3. To enter a Letter of Recommendation, click on eDocs tab in student folder – (see below) the Prepare Forms folder will automatically appear.

4. To upload the letter of recommendation, select Prepare

To upload Teacher Recommendation file, click on the Add button behind Teacher Documents.

If the teacher recommendation is for only one application, the teacher selects the college name from the Application drop-down menu. If it’s for all applications chose “same for all applications”

Lastly, the teacher must add the file. Click Browse to locate the file and then click Upload File to add it to the list of recommendations. It may state at the top that the Letter of Recommendation is “pending” – it may take up to a minute to upload as it converts it to pdf.

Once you have completed the Teacher Evaluation and uploaded the Letter of Recommendation the student screen will look as follows:

5. The final step is to send the forms

Select Send Forms – second from the left, in blue

Select the College (s) and forms you want sent

Select Review and Confirm – If you are unable to select any doucments, contact Counselor

Select Submit – you’re done!

This brings you to the submission status page
