OneDrive for Business Next Gen Sync ClientRelease Notes for PC build 17.3.5973.0929The OneDrive team is pleased to announce the Release Candidate build for the OneDrive for Business limited preview. This is an interim, non-public release and intended for use only by Microsoft employees and authorized external users. These notes cover the PC version only. The separate Mac package has separate release notes.Changes in this version include:New features:Enable add OneDrive for Business (SharePoint Online) account configuration and service discoverySync OneDrive for Business filesSelective SyncKnown Issues/Limitations:Windows 8.1 and Windows Vista are not supported. No Upgrade in place from existing OneDrive for Business. We discovered an issue where files are re-downloaded and are working to address this. For now users must map their OneDrive for Business account to a new folder on the PCNo large file support (Max is still 2GB).No Office co-authoring integration from the shell.Workaround: open files directly from Office apps or OneDrive websiteDirectory creation for alternate locations specified in Group Policy – When an alternate directory is specified in the registry (configurable by GPO), the sync client will fail to create the directory. The workaround is to create the directory on the machine before configuring the account. Change location link shows, even when “DisableCustomRoot” is set – if the Admin has deployed the setting to block users from moving their sync folder, the “Change location” link still appears in FRE. The link is inactive but may be confusing. We have heard reports of Windows 10 users seeing the error message: “Background Task is Spurious.” This error is benign; clicking on ‘OK’ should dismiss the error, and you can continue. A fix is being investigated (and eventually should be available as part of a future Windows Update).may not work with authenticated proxies.Adding OneNote Files – Do not drop a local OneNote file into a syncing directory. If you need to upload a OneNote file to the OneDrive for Business service, use the web interface. Once uploaded via the web, the OneNote file will sync down properly. Failure to adhere to this process will result in stalled sync.Creating new OneNote notebooks – Related to the issue above, if you’re creating a new OneNote notebook in your Documents library, please do so from the web. Otherwise, if you create a new notebook in your local syncing folder via the rich client, future edits to that notebook from the rich client or the web will lead to stalled sync.OneDrive for Business (Groove) takeover – While takeover works smoothly, there are known cases where the old client automatically starts and occasionally displays the “add your account”. We are working to mitigate this.Clicking the “Sync” button in the command bar on the web triggers the OneDrive for Business (Groove) client to pop up (and may prompt you to set up the application to sync your documents). If you encounter this, please close/cancel the dialog that appears. Some folder names that contain the string “_files” generate an error when they should sync without issue.Workaround: Please rename any affected folder(s) by removing any underscores from the name.If you have a 0 byte file and you delete it or its containing folder on the Web, sync errors will occur (including the undeleting of the folder) ................
