Closing Date: Continuous

Salary Range: $23.26/hr. up to $37.26/hr.

Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency (WCCCA) is the second largest 911 center in Oregon. We are a dedicated team of professionals serving our citizens and the 17 police and fire agencies we serve. We pride ourselves in providing excellent customer service in all that we do.

Do you want to make a difference in your community? Have you ever been curious about 911 Dispatching as a career and being part of the public safety field? If so, allow us to foster that interest with our fully paid training program.

We are recruiting for entry level Trainee positions that begin with call taker training and transition to police radio training once call taking duties are mastered. This position involves taking 911 and non-emergency calls to determine the nature of the call and prioritize the information according to standard procedures. This role is critical in maintaining an accurate record of events, written logs and reports of the action taken which may be used in legal proceedings. We use complex telephone mapping and computer aided dispatch equipment on a daily basis. We also use multiple references and resources to determine the appropriate course of action and provide the correct level and type of service necessary in a timely manner. In this position you will need to often simultaneously use a phone, computer and radio while monitoring multiple computer screens.

WCCCA prides itself on providing positive customer service with citizens, police and fire agency personnel, co-workers and management, often under pressure and time constraints. Dedication to reliable attendance for shift work that spans a 24 hour period (including night weekends and holidays) and reporting to work even during extreme weather conditions is a must.

We are looking for individuals who can excel at multi-tasking and retaining information while effectively communicating with citizens, police and fire personnel and with their co-workers.

The minimum qualifications are:

• Type 45 WPM, NET

• High school diploma or GED certification

• 18 years of age at the time of application

• Possess at least 1-year of customer service experience

• Possess at least 1-year of computer data entry and retrieval of information

• No disqualifying criminal history

Application and Selection Process:

To apply you must submit a completed Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency (WCCCA) application, supplemental questionnaire and any other required paperwork such as Veteran Preference documentation.

Applicants, who submit a complete and timely application packet and meet the minimum qualifications, skills and abilities, will be notified via email with the date, time and location of the first round of testing.
