1 NCID Overview

1.1 Getting Started

The North Carolina Identity Management Service (NCID) is the standard identity and access management platform provided by the Department of Information Technology. NCID is a webbased application that provides a secure environment for State agencies, local government, business, and individual users to log in and gain access to real-time resources, such as customerbased applications and information retrieval.

NCID Release 2.0 has a new "look and feel" on the front end. NCID's home page and access to functions display as clickable "tile links." The back end has the same functionality and work flows that you are familiar with using in previous Released versions.

1.2 Logging into NCID from a Browser

NOTE: When logging into NCID from your desired browser, you will need to allow pop ups. Please read your specific browser instructions. It is important that you use the latest browser updates. Google Chrome and Microsoft EDGE browsers utilize the latest security features that work best with NCID functions

Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) allows users to reset passwords and unlock their own accounts. This reduces the dependence on Administrators and Service Desk staff for user password resets and unlocks. You can use SSPR (Self Service Password reset) to unlock your account and reset your password. At any time, log into NCID at . and follow the instructions listed in the following sections of this Quick Start Guide:
