How to permanently wipe the data from an Apple computer hard driveYou will want boot up the Macintosh computer using a MAC OS media. To do this, as you turn on the MAC, hold down the option key to display the boot manager. At this point, insert the Operating System media (We are currently using MAC OS 10.4).The OS media icon will appear on the screen., along with other bootable devices such as the hard drive icon. Click once on the OS media icon then click on the right-arrow.It should now boot off the media you inserted into the optical drive.At the MAC OS window, English should be highlighted as the preferred language. Select ‘continue’.At the ‘Welcome to the Mac OS X’ install window, Select ‘Disc Utilities’ from the Utility drop-menu at the top of the screen.Click once on the hard drive that appears in the left pane. Then select ‘erase’.Select ‘security options’. Select ‘Zero out data’. Click on ‘OK’.Click on ‘Erase’.When done, the data will be permanently deleted. ................
