Sample Body Paragraph

Amerindians faced human rights violations during the European Encounter and were ultimately eliminated through the Columbian Exchange. The European Encounter was the first time that Europeans interacted with the Americas. This Age of Exploration was when Europeans traveled to the Americas in search of new land, gold, glory and god. The Age of Exploration occurred between 1450 to 1750. This age occurred because trade via the Silk Road was cut off due to the Mongols in Asia. Explorers like Christopher Columbus traveled to the Americas in 1492. Some of the Amerindians that later Europeans encountered were the Aztecs and the Incas. The Europeans enslaved the natives. The natives were restricted in their human rights because they were forced to work the newly established plantations. These plantations were vital to the European economy. The Europeans ultimately sacked native capital cities. The European conquistador Pizarro conquered the Incan capital at Cuzco. Human rights violations are a continuity in world history. Coercive labor has been around since the river valley civilizations in various forms. The Columbian Exchange was the exchange of diseases, animals and crops that occurred between the old world and new world. The Amerindians were exposed to new European diseases. (Document #2). Human rights violations and the Columbian Exchange affected the natives in many ways. The natives did not have antibodies to fight these diseases which resulted in their population dying off. The human rights violations that the Europeans carried out after changed due to the native population dying off. The Europeans then enslaved Africans to replace the native workforce.  The Europeans traveled to the western part of Africa and forced Africans to come to the Americas. This started another human rights violation called the Atlantic Slave Trade.
