Please note: You should be aware that if you wish to repair and re-register your written-off vehicle, from 31 January 2013, the Certificate of Registration for that vehicle will state that the vehicle has been reported to the NSW Written-off Vehicle Register.

5. Eligibility Category Transport for NSW will only consider applications to repair and re-register a written off light vehicle if it fits one of the eligible vehicle categories. Select the category and confirm the support evidence is included in this application (where applicable).

Hail damage The applicant is the same registered operator and the vehicle only sustained hail damage.

NOTE: If the vehicle was written off solely due to hail damage and you retained the vehicle at settlement, you do not need to complete the authorisation to repair process. Contact your insurer if you believe this applies to you.

Inherited vehicle The applicant inherited the vehicle from the registered operator due to a deceased estate or next of kin at the time the vehicle sustained the damage causing it to be written-off.

Same registered operator for at least 28 days

The applicant was the registered operator for more than 28 days before the vehicle was damaged.
