Speaking Activity. Use Going to and Will
Spend a couple of minutes thinking about your plans for the next seven days. Make a list of things you
plan to do.
Then find a partner, and interview him/her about his/her plans for the next seven days. Ask as many
questions as possible.
When you’re answering questions, remember to use going to if the answer concerns a plan that you
have already made. However, if your partner asks you about something you haven’t thought about, try
to make a plan ‘on the spot’. You’ll need to use will in this situation.
For example:
Student A: What’s your plan for Saturday night?
Student B: On Saturday night I’m going to go to the cinema with my friends. We’re going to
see the new Brad Pitt movie.
Student A: That sounds good. How about Sunday morning?
Student B: Oh, I haven’t really thought about that. I’ll probably stay at home and do my
English homework on Sunday morning…
