Basic Troubleshooting for SMARTboards

If your SMARTboard will not power on:

1. Try using your remote to turn on the SMARTboard.

2. If the SMARTboard still won¡¯t power on, unplug the board and wait for 10 seconds then

plug back in. Please report this problem to the Whitesboro Tech Dept through

HelpDesk, even if the SMARTboard will now power on.

3. Contact Whitesboro Tech Dept if the SMARTboard still won¡¯t power on.

If your SMARTboard is not responding to touch please check the light next

to the ? on the pen try and follow the steps below:

1.

Solid green: ?

?

The board is working and communicating with the PC. If there are issues

here, they are most likely due to other software or website issues.

2.

Blinking green:?

?

The board sees the USB port, but not the drivers. It will work just like a

mouse, but without any other Smart functions. The first steps to try would be reconnecting

the USB cable, and then restarting the PC if that doesn¡¯t work.

3.

Solid red:?

?

The board has power, but doesn¡¯t see the PC. Check to make sure the USB

cable is connected on both ends. Try connecting to a different USB port, then try restarting

the PC.

4.

Solid/blinking amber:?

?

The board is having internal issues. Contact the Tech

department for help.

Orienting your SMARTboard:

1) Press the Orient button on your SMART tray.

2) When the screen goes white with the Orient diamond, use your finger or a pen to press

the center of the diamond. Do this for each diamond as it appears.

3) Your board should now be oriented. If you continue to have trouble with the touch not

working, contact the Tech dept through Eduphoria.

Cleaning Your SMARTboard

IMPORTANT:

1) Before you clean your interactive whiteboard, disconnect its USB and power cables.

2) To view dirt or streaks more easily, set your projector to standby (lamp off) mode.

3) To clean dust, dirt and finger grease, wipe the interactive surface with a damp cloth or

sponge. Use mild soap, if required.

4) Don¡¯t spray cleaner directly onto the interactive surface. Instead, spray a light amount

of cleaner on a cloth and then gently wipe the interactive surface.

5) Don¡¯t allow excess cleaner to flow onto the frame¡¯s reflective surfaces or the cameras

in the corners of the frame.

6) Don¡¯t touch the digital cameras located in the corners of the frame. Don¡¯t attempt to

clean the digital cameras without specific instructions from SMART Technologies.

7) If ink is accidentally used on your interactive whiteboard, remove the ink as soon as

possible. Ink becomes more difficult to remove the longer it stays on the interactive

surface.
