POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Human Resources Specialist, Payroll

• This is a full-time position.

• Employment is with Chattahoochee Technical College and not with an individual campus.  All employees are subject to work relocation based on college needs. This position is based at the North Metro Campus in Acworth, GA.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

• Provide excellent clerical and office support to Human Resources with focus on Payroll.

• This position is responsible for the monthly payroll for the college.

• Maintain payroll records each month to include balancing agency accounts with dissemination of employer portion of checks for each agency along with garnishments entry and processing.

• Will assist in issuing and re-issuing W-2’s and payroll checks as needed.

• Enter data into PeopleSoft, Excel and Word verifying correctness of data entered and proofing of payroll before confirmation.

• Willingness to learn State and Federal laws.

• Maintain, create and update personnel files as needed.

• Creating positions for new employees, meeting with new employees and assisting employees with new employment paperwork.

• Will be responsible for data collection as well as data posting,

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree plus administrative work experience, OR associate degree plus 2 years of administrative work experience, or High School diploma and 4 years of paid administrative work experience.

• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in payroll or an accounting or finance related area.

• Knowledge of People Soft and Banner.

• Experience working with, and interpreting, letters of agreement/contracts, a variety of pay plans and personnel programs/policies.

• Organizational skills to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous complex projects, distribute effort

appropriately among the projects, meet tight deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy.

• Experience researching, interpreting, and disseminating information to all levels of the organization.

• Experience facilitating and/or providing training to others.

SALARY/BENEFITS

• $35,842.37 annual salary.

• Benefits include paid holidays, annual leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
