Our Modern Biology text is written in an interesting, engaging and well-organized manner. It’s attention-grabbing photos and feature articles will help remove the myth that science is boring and difficult.

Biology continually encompasses the “Going Green” trend, a path that will eventually improve our quality of life and the life of our planet!

Materials:

Textbook and you will also be given a “packet” at the beginning of each chapter or topic section. This will keep you more organized and up to date if you are absent.

My Daily Plan:

I. Focus: Be ready for a daily warm-up: a story, question, or activity dealing with a life science topic.

II. Motivate: A stimulating activity, reading, demonstration, or discussion that reviews or introduces material.

III. Teach: Effectively use notes, power point, group or individual activities, worksheets, labs, films* etc. to transfer information from book to you!

*You will be awarded one “entertainment” film with a BT (Biological Theme) rating.

IV. Close: Formative assessments, questions, quizzes, homework, and section reviews to reinforce & assess material covered.

Extra Credit Ideas:

Put “Biology Classroom” article on Mrs. Manitz’s website

Team teach a lesson with me or assist in lab set up

Prepare a biology lesson & present to an elementary class

Bring real-world biology news to the classroom

Absences:

Good attendance is extremely important as we cover a substantial amount of material each day. Class and group activities that we do on days you are absent cannot be made up. Your grade will be omitted for that assignment.

For all other work you miss, you are responsible for obtaining your assignments and notes from me.

Late Assignments: each day late = one grade lower
