|Special Edition – Learning Festival 2014 |

|Friday, May 9th, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm |

IT’S HERE!

The University Elementary School (UES) Learning Festival is probably the most popular and exciting event of the school year, and you’re invited!

The focus of the UES Learning Festival is to showcase the wonderful work our students have completed throughout the year. Families are invited to school on Friday, May 9th, from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm to view student displays, attend special performances, eat delicious foods and visit a variety of hands-on activity booths.

Tickets

Although there are a lot of free activities, many activities require tickets to participate. Activity booths charge between 1 and 6 tickets per activity.

New This Year! ARM BANDS

The UES PTO is excited to offer Arm Bands for $20 each. Individual tickets are also available at $0.50 each (cash or checks only).

Each arm band includes*:

-Unlimited activities

-One Tie Snake

-One “Make & Take” T-Shirt

*Food items are not included.

Arm bands eliminate the hassle of trying to keep track of tickets or deciding how many to buy. Regardless of whether you purchase an arm band or individual tickets, you’ll want to buy tickets right away when you arrive. You’ll find ticket booths at the front entrance and in the Kindergarten hallway.

Program

Pick up a program and map at the ticket booth. It will have a complete list of activity locations and the

number of tickets required. Most activities require 1-6 tickets or are FREE. The program also includes a

detailed schedule of activities so you won’t miss anything. Also, don’t forget to pick out a University Elementary School T-Shirt, (on sale in the gymnasium near the silent auction tables for $10--cash or check), so you can wear your school pride on your sleeve while you explore all the wonderful booths at the Festival.

Student Project Displays

Every classroom has the chance to spotlight some of the student work of the past year. It’s a great way to get a feeling for what the students have accomplished. Exhibits are located in hallways throughout the school and in the gym.

Special Performances:

A Jazz Combo composed of UES alumni will perform on stage from 6-7pm. There will also be a Japanese Dance demonstration in the Music room from 6-6:30pm. Both events are FREE.

DONATIONS NEEDED!

We are in need of dessert donations for the Cupcake Walk and the Food Booth. Please package desserts for the food booth into single-serving portions. Serving sizes should be suitable to charge $1.00 for (for example: 3 small cookies, 2 medium brownies, or 1 slice of pie).

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We still need volunteers to help in some of the booths. If you can give an hour of your time, we would love to have your help! Please sign up at

Food Booth

Our food booth is not to be missed! Short Stop will be grilling and serving pulled pork sliders again this year.  We will also have cheese pizza from Pizza X, carrots, apples and desserts from our very own UES families. All food is served in the cafeteria.

The preferred method of payment for food is cash. Individual tickets and checks will also be accepted. Please note that arm bands are not accepted for food purchases.

Book Fair

Don’t forget the Library Book Fair, located in the Science Lab, will be open during the Learning Festival. Cash, checks and Visa/MC accepted (no tickets or arm bands). All

proceeds benefit the University Elementary School Library.

Silent Auction

This year’s silent auction features themed baskets, created entirely from classroom donations, and individual items donated by local businesses and UES teachers!  Be sure to stop by and place your bid!
