Most literary devices help the audience understand focus on particular words or phrases in order for the writer to get his or her point across. They can be found in all types of texts, not just in stories or poems. Most people love to listen to music, and to help you understand how common literary devices are, and how they work, this project will focus on literary devices in songs (Lyric Poems). Directions: You will select a song from the list provided. Try to find a song that has a relevant theme to the readings in this unit/Line of Inquiry. This song must have a minimum of 12 literary devices. (Although you may duplicate the TYPE of literary device, you MAY NOT duplicate phrases or lines in your song for your examples and as part of your analysis.) You and 1 partner will analyze the poem in class and create power point/prezi, to visually represent the literary devices found in your song. Steps to the Project:Pick a song with at least 12 literary devicesFind the lyrics onlineCopy and paste your song lyrics onto a PowerPoint or Prezi. Make sure your song title and song artist is on the title slide (or Prezi).Go through and identify all the literary devices in your song- be sure to label them!Go through and identify the symbolism within the song.Identify the topic(s) and theme(s).
