This program provides Phi Theta Kappa’s partner institutions with increased access to academically rigorous curricula that contribute to the development of a global mindset and provide a meaningful credential from a global university, an International Honors Certificate (IHC) online course. Each of the online course options also includes the International Leadership in Action & Discovery (ILIAD) capstone unit designed by Phi Theta Kappa. The ILIAD will guide community college honors students in the creation of a personal, international, experiential learning plan; the development of leadership skills required to successfully implement and complete the plan; and preparation for scholarship applications to fund international experiences, such as the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. CostThe universities’ tuition for the IHC online courses is $1,500.00. As a benefit to Phi Theta Kappa members and for students eligible for membership into Phi Theta Kappa, the Society is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship for each course. The cost of tuition for each IHC is $500.00 per student per course.Agreement Outcomes The outcomes of this agreement include the participating institution’s ability to engage and improve in the following:Provide access to academically rigorous curricula that contribute to the development of a global mindset and provide a meaningful credential from a global university.Recognize academic excellence and to develop scholar servant leaders with global perspectives.Prepare students to explore other international experiences.Phi Theta Kappa ResponsibilitiesTo achieve the outcomes of this agreement, Phi Theta Kappa will:Deliver course content to IHC Online Courses.Provide administration on behalf of participating institutions for the IHC online courses from global universities (Because Phi Theta Kappa is acting as an agent of the institution, this program is FERPA exempt).Provide a technology platform, instructions, and technical assistance to register students in IHC courses. Issue certificates for the completion of IHC courses. Phi Theta Kappa will ensure that certificates are certified from university partners. Provide reports of student status and completion. Reports will be suitable for batch upload to the participating institutions.Provide materials and support services related to recruitment, enrollment and student and faculty support.Provide IHC online courses at a cost of $500 per student per course. (Issuing $1,000.00 scholarships to offset the full tuition cost of $1,500.00).Collect revenue through invoicing participating institutions and/or collect tuition directly from students.Provide guidance and support for students and faculty to complete a capstone module (International Leadership in Action & Discovery - ILIAD) designed by Phi Theta Kappa to prepare them and facilitate success for additional international experiential learning opportunities, such as study abroad.Provide support and guidance for accreditation documentation needed to align IHC online courses to appropriate courses for academic credit. Provide all necessary and reasonable precautions to secure student data by maintaining all internal procedures to protect data, applications, and all associated infrastructure. Phi Theta Kappa maintains cyber insurance for the protection of student data.Provide and maintain controls to prevent attack and safeguard data. Phi Theta Kappa engages in ongoing maintenance to identify any potential vulnerabilities of the system. Participating Institution:Endorse IHC online courses, and market the $1,000.00 scholarships available to students eligible for the program (Phi Theta Kappa members and those eligible for membership).Set annual enrollment goals for the program. Coordinate communications with Phi Theta Kappa and provide on-campus support of marketing and recruitment of students eligible for IHC courses – including the $1,000.00 scholarships available to eligible students.Provide necessary student data to recruit, enroll, track, and assess outcomes of students participating in IHC courses. Adhere to Phi Theta Kappa’s technical specifications and/or instructions for exchange of student date needed to complete and assess the IHC program.Articulate successful completion of IHCs and translate learning outcomes into academic credit. This may be accomplished by incorporating IHCs into an existing course and providing scheduling and faculty facilitation, or it may be through assignment of an appropriate course number and self-paced completion by the mit to providing financial subsidies for students necessary to offset any difference between student tuition for a three credit hour course and the cost of the IHC online course ($500).
