Contact email: marjan.hrzic@ Starting ?sizing“ images For some days i was thinking, is it necessery to create an ?user guide“ for Image Sizer. But, if other programs have it, Image Sizer is no exception. First, the necesary step of using Image Sizer is to download ?Java virtual machine“, or the runtime that is required to run IS. Note: Many users have this installed already, but if you are new to ?Java“ you must install itSo navigate your browser to: You will get page like thisClick on ?Free Java Download“ and you will get another window in which you must accept ?User Agreemnt“ and your download will begin.Starting ?sizing“ images After instaling Java (downloaded file), our ?necessery step“ of using the Image Sizer is concluded. Now, we come to download IS part. Open your browser again, and go to: This is ?official“ download spot of Image Sizer. You can find there latest downloads, previous versions, etc.... You will get page like this: So, the default language version of this program is English version. If you agree with that, click on green button ?Download image Sizer“ (your download will begin shortly)Starting ?sizing“ images If you want different language version, you can click on Browse All Files. You should get screen like this: Currently (while i am writting tutorial) there are 2 versions available for download. ImageSizerVersion1.1(english).zip - English version of program ImageSizerV1.1.zip - Serbian version of program (ImageSizerVersion1.1(english).zip is default download version you can get simply by clicking on green download button)Starting ?sizing“ images So this conclude the download part of our tutorial. Know, we must extract the image sizer and view the contents of that file. Know, take a look of downloaded file: Currently, i have ImageSizerv1.1(enligsh) but it will be same procedure for further version(at least until version 6). So, open archive using your favorite decompress tool. I use ?WinRar“ archiever. You will get screen like this: Know i will tell you what of this 2 folders mean for Image Sizer.Starting ?sizing“ images As you can see, we have 2 folders( imagesfolder and issettings). Imagesfolder: This folder contains images that ImageSizer uses for his runtime. Currently, there is just one image, because its first version, and ImageSizer is stil small app. Inside that folder we have image called ?spot.gif“ Here is the preview from archiever This is image that Image Sizer uses as a locator for Drag And Drop handle. I confess, its not a perfect design, but what the hell. This image is not changable yet, but from version 2.0 it will be, and maybe there will be more images in that folder. Starting ?sizing“ images The other folder(?issettings“) is folder in which whom Image Sizer stores the settings data, so you dont need to adjust them every time you start Image Sizer. As you can see on image below, there are 2 files (currently): imagesizersettings.dat - file that stores Image Sizer settings read me please.txt - plain text files that warm users about dangeour of danger of changeing the above file imagesizersettings.dat file As the name says, the sizer settings file. Sizer stores all information from ?settings“ category into single file, and every time you initialize it, he loads those settings, and sets his sizer parameters. You musnt change this file !!! read me please.txt file Simple read me file.Starting ?sizing“ images Well, that concludes our first theme ? Starting ?sizing“ images“. Now that we know all the contents of IS folder, we can freely use him. The next theme is about importing pictures in ?Image Sizer“. This is main functionality, so read careffuly. Launching Image Sizer Were back Now comes the big part of running this app. I suppose you extracted your archieve, and we can start ?running the machine“. Open extracted folder, and you should see a screen like this: As I previosly explained 2 folders, i left untold the other two files: ImageSizer - ProgramReadme -Plain readme file ImageSizer file This is that thing why you read my tutorial past 15 minutes. An executable JAR File. Why JAR, and not just .exe ? As i mentioned before, Image Sizer is based on Java Platform, and .JAR is java format for executables. So as everybody figure it out, when you double click this file, the Image Sizer will open. README file Simple read me file. Using Image Sizer If you double clicked on ImageSizer file mentioned before, you get a window on your screen that look something like this. So as you can see, we have Drag and Drop area and 4 buttons: Settings button Resize Selected button Resize All button About button In next section i will explain all of them. Using Image SizerSettings Panel As we saw picture, we noticed the 4 buttons. This whole page is dedicated to thing that happens after click on Settings button. So when you click on settings button, you will get window that looks something like this: So when you input in ?Width“ field, thats the wanted width of resized pictures. In this field you must enter only numbers. When you change the value of ?Height“ field, you changed the desired size of Height for pictures Using Image SizerNow comes the path part. When you click on Browse, you will get a dialog that looks like this one. So, in this dialog you can: crate,choose folder, or return to the previous screen. If you click on ?ChooseFolder“ , you will set up the path for that folder (Note: The selected folder is showned at path text field)Using Image Sizer And finaly, we have the ?Save forever“ option. This title is little awkward, because it will save changes on startup rather than forever. But, the idea of this ?check box“ is that when its checked, and you click OK, it will save all your changes to imagesizersettings.dat , and when its not checked, and you click OK, it will save changes for time Image Sizer is running.That concludes the Settings panel. Next thinking i will be explaining is Drag And Drop handler. Using Image Sizer Drag and Drop images Now comes the action part. You have a lot of images you want to resize, and you want to add them to the Image Sizer. Heres how. First find the directory where your images are located (I use Sample Pictures for this example) Now select all images, and slightly draged them to the Image Sizer drop area. Using Image Sizer After this step, you should get a ?filled up“ Image Sizer. Using Image Sizer ResizeSelected button This button will resize images you selected. Multiple selection of images will take place if you hold control button (ctrl) while clicking on desired imagesSo, for example, if you selected 4 images like I did And then click on ?Resize selected“, you would get a resized images on your desired location. That concludes Resize Selected button pressed.Using Image Sizer Resize All button Lets return to the filled up window from begining of drag and droped section. If you click on Resize All button, Image Sizer will automaticaly resize all images in list to your desired location(one that was set up in settings pane).Thats it! Its so easy to use, and this time writting tutorial seems like wasted time in my life , but there is a plenty of ?newbie“ users that doesnt know this basic terms, and tutorial is mostly dedicated to them.FAQ(Frequently asked questions)This is a list of questions that came to my email, so I will answer here. Image Sizer wont run! The Image Sizer file is just uknown file format Thats because you dont have Java Virtual Machine running. Go to page 2 of this tutorial and problem will be fixed Image Sizer stucks when i import a whole directory of images Thats because Image Sizer dont have ?Multi process support“ – Thread support yet. Wait a half of moth and you will get speedy IS Image Sizer wont resize my picture. He just stucks when i click Resize Selected Probably you have image in format image sizer doesnt support. Wait a while, and it will be suported How can I get a Image Sizer code?
