What is "Word Hunt" and why is it important?

After learning specific vowels and spelling patterns, your child can do a "Word Hunt" (Bear et al., 1996) to find additional words that fit the pattern.

How can I use "Word Hunt" with my child?

Using the worksheet provided, encourage your child to look through books to find sight words or words that fit the spelling pattern or patterns that he is practicing. Following is an example of a completed "Word Hunt."
