In the five years between 2005 and 2009 the overall Maryland population increased

by 1.8%, while the Maryland Hispanic population increased by 28.8%.

Hispanics in Maryland are 4.7 times more likely than Whites to

be without health insurance.

be unable to afford health care.

Proportion of Hispanic Women receiving late or no prenatal care is 3.3 times higher than for White women.

Hispanic Women in Maryland are more likely than Non Hispanic

Women to be without health insurance before pregnancy

Hispanics have a 20% to 30% higher rate of new cases of End-Stage Renal Disease (kidney disease), than Non- Hispanic Whites in the age groups older than 54 years of age.

The rate of new cases of HIV for Hispanics or Latinos was about 2.3 times higher than for Whites in 2008.
