Find ideas for writing in conversations with others and in books, magazines, newspapers, school textbooks, or on the Internet. Keep a list or notebook of ideas. 4.1 Students will trace the historical periods, places, people, events and movements that have led to the development of Indiana as a state. Materials:Ryan White review newspapers, books, articles, paper, 8’10 pictureAnne Frank review books and diary, desk, backpack template, paper, 8’10 pictureHelen Keller review books, braille alphabet, hole punch, glue sticks, paper, 8’10 pictureRuby Bridges review books, picture art, paper, 8’10 pictureInvitation letters and writing prompts for each child hero.Website dedicated to each child hero at each computer to explore.Review:For nine weeks students will be introduced and study four different children heroes including, Ruby Bridges, Anne Frank, Helen Keller and Ryan White. With each study we conducted and discovered a new story, new books, videos, and new methods of writing including, descriptive, article writing, journal, reflective and braille writing. As a closure this unit of study I have created I have deigned invitation tabs reviewing all that we have learned through writing workshop.Lesson:With each invitation there is a letter “from the child hero” describing a review to remind the students about their story.After reading the letter from the child hero, the students will choose one for the two options given to complete from the writing prompts.As the student is completing the writing prompt or before, they will read, review and discover the given materials to remind and learn new things to help in their finished product for a grade.Assessment:From each invitation table the students visit, they must complete one writing prompt given in the invitation. Through their answers and writing I will determine their retension of the reviewed material and given them a grade on each of the four invitations. The final day we will share who our favorite hero was and why. ................
