ANDROID HYPERSPIN SETUP WITH EXT HDD SET AS REMOVABLE STORAGEOk...so you took the plunge and bought yourself an Nvidia Shield and want to ramp it up with Hyperspin...... excellent !!!This is a brief tutorial aimed at getting you off the ground.... it is not by any means a fully comprehensive HYPERSPIN guide but enough for you to be playing games and be in a position to progress .....Before starting you will need to consider whether you will set your external hard drive as"REMOVABLE STORAGE"....OR "INTERNAL STORAGE"....Both will work in the same way performance wise...however...setting your external hdd as "INTERNAL STORAGE" will render the drive unusable anywhere else as the Shield will effectively take ownership of it... and "REMOVABLE STORAGE" is exactly as it says...you will still be able to use it with your other devices as well as the Shield....When you attach the HDD to the Shield for the first time you will be asked how you want to set your hard drive...ie. as internal or removable storage ....having considered the above that choice is down to you But for the purpose of this tutorial we are going to SET THE HDD AS REMOVABLE STORAGE :- Should you wish to choose "INTERNAL STORAGE" refer to the "Hyperspin Android on Internal Storage" tutorial.Dont be overwhelmed by the amount of content in this tutorial.... I have broken it down into 4 easy sections and if you take your time and follow it stage by stage you will be playing games very shortly.... the process is simple if followed correctly and the ONLY thing that will halt a swift installation will be your download times.....The 4 stages are as follows:1: Downloading and installing required software for the Shield and PC..2: Downloading the packs from RetroManiacUS website...3: Extracting and installing from PC to your External Hard Drive4: Configuring RetroArch______________________________________________________________STAGE 1: DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING REQUIRED SOFTWARE FOR THE SHIELD AND PC..1a: On your Shield download and install the following apps from the PlaystoreHYPERSPINES FILE EXPLORER1b: Download\Install this APK of RetroArch (1.5.0) here using ES File Explorer.1c: On your PC download and install the following softwareWINRARNOTEPAD++Once the above software has been installed you can continue to Stage 2..._____________________________________________________________________________STAGE 2: DOWNLOADING THE PACKS FROM RETROMANIACUS WEBSITE...2a: On your PC go to RMUS website and from the Home Page look in ....Gaming Front Ends / Hyperspin / Hyperspin Packs:click on the Android Base Install...which looks like the one you see belowonce inside there you will find these 8 Hyperspin.rars that you will need to download: 2b : Then also from the Hyperspin Packs section download the 3 following game packs:NESSNESSEGA MEGADRIVENow that all the packs are downloaded we can move on to stage 3 extracting and installing from PC to your external hard drive.....___________________________________________________________________________STAGE 3: EXTRACTING AND INSTALLING FROM PC TO YOUR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE3a: So you have what you need ...... now plug your ext hdd into yr PC...and get ready to start installing....The first thing we need to extract and install is the Hyperspin Base Pack ....the one with 8 zips...... Make a note of the drive letter of yr external hdd as this is where the packs will need to be extracted to3b: You only need to click on the first zip in the series "Hyperspin part 1" .... right click and select "extract files" then extract to the root of that drive..... the other 7 zips will extract and follow automatically.3c : Once they have finished extracting remove your hdd from the pc and plug into your shield.....3d: Now open Hyperspin from the Shield Main Menu... If all has gone well Hyperspin will open and you will be able to scroll thru the wheel and see the different systems..... **if when opening hyperspin you get kicked back to the shield main menu something is not right... go back and ensure the size of the zip files matches that of the ones you downloaded.you will notice that 7 zips are 512kb and one @ 251,446 kb....make sure yours are the same**Hopefully all has gone well and you are now ready to install the Hyperspin Game Packs....3e: Now the necessary base packs are in place unplug your ext hdd from your Shield and plug back into your PC.... locate the 3 Hyperspin game packs that you downloaded and extract and install to the ext hdd...3f: Start with the NES pack and install it in exactly the same way as you did the Hyperspin Base Packs.... simply select the first zip...extract to the root of yr ext hdd and the remaining zips in that pack will follow3g: When that has finished do exactly the same for the SNES and MEGADRIVE packs.....WHEN ALL HAVE FINISHED EXTRACTING...UNPLUG FROM PC AND PLUG BACK TO YOUR SHIELD.. So now your 3 game packs are installed you can fire up your Hyperspin but although you will see all the games in the respective sytem wheels that you installled.....at this stage you will be unable to play them as RetroArch has to be configured..... continue to section 4 "Configuring RetroArch"___________________________________________________________________________________4: CONFIGURING RETROARCH4a: On your Shield open RetroArch ....4b: In the settings load all the emulator cores...going thru them one by one using yr controller "A" is select "B" is back...4c: Next you will want to turn off "OnscreenOverlay"... do this by selecting in the 2nd column of RetroArch the following:Onscreen Display / OnscreenOverlay /Display Overlay ... select to off4d: Lastly .... in order to exit games follow this short You Tube video (link below) 4e: You are now good to go....Select a game from any of the 3 sytems we have installed..... 4f: If you find that RetroArch menu appears when you select a game ..just double click the circle on the controller under the Shield Green Triangle.... this will present a menu of open apps... close the RetroArch and Hyperspin apps and reboot Hyperspin.... ____________________________________________________________________Well that's pretty much it ...you should be able to play any of the games in the 3 packs we have downloaded and installed in this tutorial...... further packs that you may wish to install will be done in exactly the same way.... "always click on the first zip in the series and extract to the root of your drive".... There are packs in the RetroManiacUS collection that will need additional emulators to be installed and also some .ini's to make them work..... Some new packs will also have to be added to the Database Folder in order to appear on your Hyperspin Wheel..... but they are projects that can be done as you go along ...This will be enough to familiarise you with Hyperspin and getting you on your way to setting out all your old favourite Retro games ......HAPPY GAMING PEOPLESCon Door ................
