It is your job to inform the public of all the necessary information they need so they can make their own choices. You will present your findings in a brochure that either informs or persuades them. (Think about all those brochures in a doctor’s office, what is their purpose?)Choose a body system (respiratory, digestive, nervous, excretory, circulatory) that is intriguing (interesting or super cool) to you. Use the Research Guide on the back to help you research about the body system.Once you have inquired (researched) into the body system, create a brochure. It can be either an informational brochure or an advertising/persuasive brochure. In your brochure you will include all the information from your research guide. Use the checklist to make sure you have included everything. Don’t forget to include a diagram of your body system. (You cannot print and paste a picture from the internet)Communicate your information in a clear and organized manner. Organize your brochure in a way that makes sense and the information on it flows together based on your brochure design. The ideas should connect and link to one another. Ideas on how you can do this will be discussed in class. Objectives of this assignment: Identify the organs and structural parts of your system.Explain in detail how your body system works and is connected with other systems in the body.Identify and understand disorders/diseases that can occur in your system and the effects on the bodyInvestigate and analyze the possible interactions or effects on your system due to these diseases and response to stimuli Inquire (research) appropriate and relevant information and record the sources (website or books that you got your information from).Communicate in a clear and organized mannerVocabulary that must be evident in your work:structure function vocabulary related to your systemcelltissueorgansystemorganismThis project is due on Monday, March 7, 2016. You will receive two days in science class to do your research (Wednesday, February 24, Thursday February 25) and two days in science to put together your whole brochure (Monday, February 29, Tuesday, March 1). You will need to use your time wisely! The rest will be completed on your own time.Research Guide: Write down your sources (websites, books etc.) as you use themDetails of the Body SystemWhat does your system look like in the body? What are the organs in this system? What are the functions of each organ? What are the functions of this body system? What are the special features or characteristics of this system?Any additional information you deem important or interesting?Disorders/Diseases (Minimum 3 diseases)What disorders and/or diseases are linked to this system? How do these disorders/diseases affect the system? In what parts of the world are these disorders/diseases found? Any additional information you deem important or interesting?Interdependence (You must include a minimum of 3 examples)How does this system work with other body systems to do it function? How does this system work with other body systems in response to stimuli? How does this system interact with other body systems when a disease or disorder is present?Fun Facts (OPTIONAL) Find 5 fun facts about your body system.Helpful Resource Links (Just for starters) Marking: You will be marked against the 4 science stems as well as for creativity and organization.Science Stem Mark:Knowledge and Concepts: ______Problem Solving (Reasoning): _______Inquiry and Communication: ______Explores scientific events: ______Creativity and Organization: _______Research Guide Graphic Organizer:Topics:Your notes:Sources:Details of Body SystemDisorders/DiseasesInterdependenceFun FactsTravel Brochure Plan:Use the following outline to plan out your brochure. You design how you would want to organize your brochure. Use a 8.5 x 11 white paper to do a rough copy to plan what you want in each section. Use an 11x17 sheet of paper for your good copy. This will give you eight sections (front and back). Is this diagram coloured properly?Did you give descriptions of the functions of each organ?Did you give descriptions of the major functions of your system?Have you included special features or characteristics of your system?Have you included a minimum of 3 diseases found in your system?Have you included how these 3 diseases affect your system?Have you included the parts of the world these 3 diseases can be found?Have you included a minimum of 3 examples how your body system works with other systems?Have you included 5 fun facts?
