GorlewskiAP Art and Design (2D, Drawing, and 3D)Summer Assignments: Artists should always be thinking and working, creating artwork and using art materials. Summer Assignments will be due the second week of school. Consider posting images of your works in progress on Teams for group critique and advice. The following must be submitted for grading: 3 Artworks: These artwork should show a range of ideas, materials, and processes. These works can/should be a part of your investigation process for Quarter 1. They should be of high quality and should be college level artwork. Choose subject matter and materials you might be interested in pursuing further for your Sustained Investigation. For example, might really like watercolor portraits. One of your artworks should be a watercolor portrait. Perhaps you like Cubism and want to explore this further. Then, do that for one of your summer projects. Beginning this process early can help you during the year when you have limited time to create artwork before the portfolio must be submitted. Sketchbook/Journal: We will be creating our own sketchbooks at the beginning of the year. However, my advice to you is to go buy a nice sketch journal for this course. This is where you will document your ideas visually. This should have at least 10 entries, reflecting on your process as you worked through your 3 artworks, your research, and your revisions. Photography: At least 50 original digital photographs must be submitted. You can take them on your phone and create a folder for safe keeping. These will be used as references throughout your creative process during the year. Please note that these do not have to be amazing photographs. I would snap pictures wherever you go so you have a wide variety of photos and ideas to choose from. Understand that the use of internet references is highly discouraged in AP Art. *A Note about Copyright Laws: Please understand that you cannot simply google something and copy that idea. This is breaking copyright laws and the work cannot be used in your portfolio. There it is wise to avoid using reference images from the internet. This is especially the case when using a photo of a famous person. Chances are, you didn’t take that photo and the team of graders are going to know, and they won’t give you anything higher than a 2 on the exam. **Get familiar with the course syllabus (this will be posted in Teams) and the portfolio sections. ................
