COURSE FEE & SUPPLIES

The required fee for Business Essentials is $25.00. This is used to purchase supplies necessary for the operation of the computer lab including paper and toner. Please make checks payable to PHS.

|Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a co-curricular component of our Business Education program Students are encouraged to become participating |

|members of the organization that enhances classroom instruction, helps develop leadership skills, and provides opportunities for professional growth and |

|service. FBLA club dues are $15.00. |

|You may write one check for $40.00 for the class fee and FBLA. |

|Ear Buds (Dollar tree has some for $1.00) |

|1 Black Dry Erase Marker (small size writing tip ) |

|1 plain colored T-shirt(no designs on T-shirt) (with short sleeves). This shirt |

|will be used as part of a class team project. |

|Spiral notebook for taking lecture notes and “notebook grade”. |

 

FUNDRAISING

Students are encouraged to participate in all field trips. To help cover the cost of field trips, we encourage all students to participate in related fundraising events.

GRADING

Test/Projects 65%

Classwork 30%

Professionalism 5%

ASSESSMENT:

Students will have a variety of grading opportunities. Students will have tests based on techer lectures, class assignments, workplace professionalism observation assessments, group participation assessments, presentations, and projects that will count towards their final grade.

EXEMPTIONS

Absences for exemption will begin the first day of school. The Autauga County School policy for exemptions is as follows:

5 Absences = A

3 Absences = B

2 Absences = C

No ISS, Alternative School, or Suspension for any reason.

Business Essentials Class Expectations

COURSE POLICIES

Preparing for Examinations: Attend class, take notes during lectures, turn in projects, and complete all assignments posted in your Google Classroom workplace. The student should keep all notes, handouts, and returned assignments for exam preparation.

In Case You Are Late or Absent: It is your responsibility to get the course notes, handouts, and laboratory assignments.

VIEWING YOUR GRADES

You may check your grades using INow. This is available through the front office for a cost of $10. By using the Internet and a password, with INow you will be able to access your grades for all your classes at PHS.

It is your responsibility to check grades throughout the year and report grade discrepancies to your instructor. If you have a question, please do not hesitate to ask. Parents feel free to e-mail the instructor at the e-mail address listed on the first page of this syllabus

Your child is enrolled in the Business Essentials class at PHS. Students will be given assignments through an online classroom environment called ‘Google Classroom”. Many classroom group assignments will involve watching the TV show “Shark Tank”. Also, there will likely be field trips planned throughout the year and each trip will have an accompanying trip cost ( I will send home a Parent information/permission form for you to sign). All business students are encouraged to join FBLA for a $15.00 club fee. Club members are eligible to participate in PHS FBLA club events designed to enhance their business skill set. Membership in professional business organizations, like FBLA, gives applicants a competitive edge when applying for jobs.
