We will work together to learn and practice need-to-know math skills as a class. In addition to traditional instruction, there is also a computer component to the class. Based on a diagnostic assessment, each student will be assigned lessons and practice on iReady to meet their individual needs.Grades:Assessments 70%Classwork & Homework 30%Classwork & Homework:Ready: Each day, we will work begin with a warmup to ease into the lesson. You must keep a composition (marble) notebook in class for warmup and closure activities. We will work through practice problems and use critical thinking skills to enhance our understanding of the material. Additional lesson practice may be assigned as homework. Additionally, students may receive individual homework assignments to practice skills based on their needs.iReady: Students will be given class time to complete the individually assigned lessons on iReady. You are also expected to spend at least 1 hour each week on iReady for homework. This can be done at home or during Resource, but must be completed by each Monday’s check.Homework will be posted on the white board in class, as well as on the teacher website. Please check these locations for assignments and due dates.Assessments:Skill-based quizzes related to the curriculum will be given periodically. Tests will be given at the end of each lesson. Students will complete a review before each test.Learning to Proficiency:Please turn in all assignments on time. Late or incomplete assignments may result in a lowered grade. Assignments that are not turned in will receive a zero.Learning to Proficiency is encouraged for all assignments that are 70% or less. It is up to you to request a Learning to Proficiency opportunity. If you are unsure how to proceed with receiving credit, ask your teacher.Absences:You are responsible for making up missed work when you are absent from class.Please check the teacher websites and/or contact a classmate.When you return to school, you are responsible for completing and turning in missed classwork and homework.
