I can understand familiar words and very basic phrases about current weather conditions and details of the forecast when people speak slowly and clearly. Listening task Note there are two versions of the sound file for the French task and one has already been used in the face to face session. It is worth spending more time on this and trying the task out with Y6 pupils, even a small group of more able learners as this will help teacher reflection.Teacher-led recap of weather phrases etc. will be helpful before the listening task as appropriate.Task: Authentic forecast for Europe. Aim: Learners expected to pick out as minimum country/some temperatures /weather conditions. Teacher reflectionWhat do you expect the learners to be able to do? Differentiation is possible to demonstrate levels of understanding. Some pupils when listening could just hold up a card with the weather symbol to demonstrate understanding, some could record on a weather chart. Some add more details e.g. temperature and wind direction. Pupil sheetWeather report for Europe. The weather varies very much from country to country. Source carefully to this weather report.What month is the report for? ___________________What date? ___________________________________Can you either draw the weather symbols and if you can write the weather words as well for the countries you hear? If the temperature is mentioned can you record it in the correct box too?
