PART TIME TEACHER OF COMPUTER SCIENCE (0.22) – SEPTEMBER 2020Ackworth School, a co-educational boarding and day school, was founded in 1779 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). It maintains its ethos and traditions, and is still governed by the Society, although only a small number of pupils and staff are from the Quaker tradition. The school is academically non-selective and provides an excellent range of facilities and extra-curricular opportunities. The school is a member of both HMC and the Society of Heads.We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Computer Science. This is a new post due to the growing interest in the subject. It is being introduced at A-level for the first teaching in September 2020 so the post holder, in consultation with the current teachers of IT, will be able to decide what exam board they feel best suits. The new post holder will have the opportunity to shape the department so that it best suits the needs of our learners and those required by future employers. Information technology is taught to all pupils in year 7 (first form) to year 9 (third form) and as an option at GCSE. From September 2020, it is expected the post holder will teach all seven periods with the introduction of Computer Science at A-level. There is an opportunity to deliver these lessons remotely and/or off timetable for the right candidate.There is one dedicated ICT suite within the school and all teachers have recently been given their own iPad pro. The music department also have their own classroom of iMacs.
